* chore(ci): audit packaging costs and repeated test execution Read-only audit: Linux packaging and smokes consume 12-14 minutes; all three CLI shards repeat the 294-test source suite and build the server twice. Preserve the 17 required contexts, move packaging to main, run CLI source tests once, and consolidate repeated E2E setup into journeys. Historical logs and the complete audit were reported outside the repository. * ci: move packaging to main and remove repeated CLI suites PR runners were rebuilding distribution artifacts and executing the entire CLI source suite on all three E2E shards. Keep packaging coverage after merge, let the local E2E runner own its dependency build, and execute source tests once in an existing required check. Root typecheck already validates plugin examples. * test(ci): consolidate journeys and remove repeated startup work Run user journeys with shared setup, retain one Hub CLI contract, and weight the existing Playwright shards using observed costs. Remove implementation-only and ad-hoc measurement checks. Await root-watch closure and publish creation failure commands atomically so teardown and failure injection have completion boundaries. * test(hub): remove incidental observation and speculative shutdown changes Hub control RPCs need a connected client without an agent observation. Preserve the failed-create subscription contract and remove product shutdown changes whose Windows cleanup cause was not reproduced. * fix(client): clear the scheduled retry when a connect attempt opens a transport An explicit connect() during reconnect backoff opened a new transport but left the scheduled retry armed. When it fired on the healthy connection it disposed the transport and reconnected, dropping requests in flight. This is why owned-subscriptions-old-daemon could still fail after #4858 added the explicit reconnect. attemptConnect now owns the rule ensureConnected already applied; the new unit test fails on the old client. * test(e2e): keep the completed-block, font-readiness, and live-page guards inside journeys - agent-stream-ui: the auto-scroll journey anchors on the completed intro block by content and requires its Markdown root to stay the same mounted node while later blocks stream (#1989 guard, reshaped off the tail block). - changes-pane: the code-typography journey holds font loads and requires no diff geometry before they resolve, then applies the font change. - agent-timeline-pagination: the live-output page load runs against a thirty-minute mock stream and gates the release on the running turn, so the status assertion no longer races a ten-second turn. * test(desktop): install the Electron binary once before the unit suite Electron 44 downloads its binary on the first Node require("electron") instead of at npm ci. Vitest workers importing electron-log/main raced that download and extraction (File exists on dist/electron, then "Electron failed to install correctly" in a sibling worker) on both Ubuntu and Windows desktop-tests jobs. Run the package's idempotent install-electron in one process before vitest forks. * ci(desktop-packages): pin actions and smoke packaging-path pull requests Pin checkout, setup-node, and upload-artifact to full commit SHAs. Keep packaging off ordinary PR CI, but run the Linux package smoke on pull requests that touch packages/desktop, nix, or the workflow so a packaging or sandbox regression cannot land on main unchecked. The desktop release workflow already builds and smokes its own artifacts on all platforms.
Paseo
One interface for Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, OpenCode, and Pi agents.
Run agents in parallel on your own machines. Ship from your phone or your desk.
- Self-hosted: Agents run on your machine with your full dev environment. Use your tools, your configs, and your skills.
- Multi-provider: Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, OpenCode, and Pi through the same interface. Pick the right model for each job.
- Voice control: Dictate tasks or talk through problems in voice mode. Hands-free when you need it.
- Cross-device: iOS, Android, desktop, web, and CLI. Start work at your desk, check in from your phone, script it from the terminal.
- Privacy-first: Paseo doesn't have any telemetry, tracking, or forced log-ins.
Plugins
Add themes, workspace panels, commands, settings screens, and coding-agent providers with trusted
TypeScript plugins. Install from a local directory or Git repository with paseo plugin add <source>.
See the plugin docs for your Paseo version, or start with the 0.8 beta quickstart. Plugins run with access to your daemon machine and inside connected clients; install only code you trust.
Getting Started
Paseo runs a local server called the daemon that manages your coding agents. Clients like the desktop app, mobile app, web app, and CLI connect to it.
Prerequisites
You need at least one agent CLI installed and configured with your credentials:
Desktop app (recommended)
Download it from paseo.sh/download or the GitHub releases page. Open the app and the daemon starts automatically. Nothing else to install.
To connect from your phone, open Settings → your host → Pair Device.
CLI / headless
Install the CLI and start Paseo:
npm install -g @getpaseo/cli
paseo
Paseo starts locally, then asks whether to enable the end-to-end encrypted relay for device pairing. If you decline, connect directly over TCP, Tailscale, or another VPN. This path is useful for servers and remote machines.
For full setup and configuration, see:
Docker
Run the Paseo daemon and self-hosted web UI in Docker:
docker run -d --name paseo \
-p 6767:6767 \
-e PASEO_PASSWORD=change-me \
-v "$PWD/paseo-home:/home/paseo" \
-v "$PWD:/workspace" \
ghcr.io/getpaseo/paseo:latest
Open http://localhost:6767 after it starts. Extend the base image with the agent CLIs you use, then provide credentials through environment variables or the persistent /home/paseo volume. See the Docker documentation for full setup details.
CLI
Everything you can do in the app, you can do from the terminal.
paseo run --provider claude/opus-4.6 "implement user authentication"
paseo run --provider codex/gpt-5.5 --worktree feature-x "implement feature X"
paseo ls # list running agents
paseo attach abc123 # stream live output
paseo send abc123 "also add tests" # follow-up task
# run on a remote daemon; --cwd is a path on that host
paseo run --host workstation.local:6767 --cwd /workspace "run the full test suite"
See the full CLI reference for more.
TypeScript SDK
Build issue integrations, dashboards, and orchestration services with @getpaseo/client:
import { createPaseoClient } from "@getpaseo/client";
const client = createPaseoClient({ url: "ws://127.0.0.1:6767/ws" });
await client.connect();
const agent = await client.agents.create({
config: { provider: "codex/gpt-5.5" },
cwd: "/Users/me/dev/storefront",
prompt: "Review the current diff and name the riskiest change.",
});
const result = await agent.waitForFinish();
console.log(result.lastMessage);
await client.close();
See the SDK quickstart, recipes, and API reference.
Skills
Skills teach your agent to use Paseo to orchestrate other agents.
npx skills add getpaseo/paseo
Then use them in any agent conversation:
/paseo-handoff— hand off work between agents. I use this to plan with Claude and then handoff to Codex to implement./paseo-advisor— spin up a single agent as an advisor for a second opinion, without delegating the work itself./paseo-committee— form a committee of two contrasting agents to step back, do root cause analysis, and produce a plan.
