* Upgrade to Expo 57 and unify Explorer across layouts
* feat(app): retain Explorer across layout and appearance changes
Keep one workspace Explorer host and destination-aware navigation so folding, theme updates and compact sheets preserve the current panel. Scope pull request discovery and timeline demand to active surfaces.
* fix(app): keep Explorer resize handles stretched through the dock
The shared frame moved the divider into an absolute column, leaving its horizontal handle without height. Restore the row so pointer drags reach it, preserving the existing resize and performance contract.
* fix(app): keep Explorer drag widths out of the shared stylesheet
Carry the existing inline sizing policy into the shared frame so pointer previews do not accumulate CSS rules.
* fix(test): align isolated test runtimes with Expo 57
Hoisted React consumers need the matching DOM renderer at the repository root. Automated Metro processes must not install native DevTools into disposable homes, and development toast overlays must not cover compact actions.
Keep Explorer journeys on the shared host and synchronize setup fixtures on daemon output rather than a one-second file-marker window. A delayed real child start reproduces the readiness failure on every platform.
* fix(test): await retained shell layout after composer resize
The gesture host now stays mounted across breakpoints, so its presence no longer identifies compact layout. Report the current layout on the retained host and synchronize composer journeys with that state.
* fix(app): preserve browser interactions in retained workspace hosts
Initially disabled gesture hosts still registered pointer and wheel listeners, while hover cards used window positions inside a workspace-local sheet portal. Respect initial gesture enablement and position cards relative to their measured floating host.
Keep developer-toast dismissal independent of pointer input and replacement toast visibility so modal, hover, and focus checks retain their input state.
* fix(test): share developer toast handling with Electron browser runs
The standalone Electron browser runner bypassed the browser fixture, allowing developer errors to cover Settings. Use the same non-pointer dismissal in both runners while retaining their console logs.
* perf(app): load translations when their language is selected
Eager locale imports evaluated and registered all nine translation bundles on every cold start. Load bundled locales through a synchronous i18next backend so language selection keeps its before-render contract and offline behavior.

* fix(app): show PR panel state, activity verbs, and thread badges in the app language
The PR panel's state label, the verb after each activity author, and the
Resolved and Outdated thread badges were English literals, so they stayed
English in every other language. The state and verb translations already
existed and were unused; the badges get new keys in every locale.
Closes#6214
* fix(app): translate every PR panel verb and state, and phrase them after the author
The zh-CN state and review labels still held English ("Open", "Draft",
"已 review"), and the Spanish and Portuguese verbs were adjectives that
do not read after an author's name. The translation test now checks
each verb and state on its own, so one English label fails it.

* fix(app): show PR panel activity and add-to-chat labels in the app language
The PR panel's Activity header, its empty state, every "Add to chat"
button, "Add all to chat", "Adding...", and the comment and thread menu
labels were written in the components, so they stayed English in every
other language. The sidebar status group rows also appended an English
" group" to their accessibility label. They now come from the
translation files, with copy for all nine supported languages.
Closes#6203
* test(app): check the new PR panel labels are translated in every language

* fix(app): translate the PR checks summary, sidebar status labels, and "Worked for" line
These were written in the components, so they stayed English in every
other language. They now come from the translation files, with copy for
all nine supported languages.
Closes#6190
* fix(app): rebuild translated labels when the app language changes
The checks summary, sidebar status groups, and turn footer now take the
translation function, so their memoized labels rebuild on a language
switch. Russian one-check group labels use singular wording.
* test(app): compare compact footer targets at sub-pixel precision
The browser reports the 44pt footer buttons as 43.99999 wide on some
runs, which fails the finger-size check on main as well.

* fix(android): keep timeline still when tapping text
Selectable Android text takes touch focus. React Native then scrolls focused children using untransformed coordinates, which moves inverted timelines even though the user did not scroll.\n\nSkip that auto-scroll only for touch-focused, selectable, non-editable text in inverted vertical scroll views, preserving normal focus navigation and editable inputs.
* test(e2e): isolate PR pane fixtures from bots
* feat(protocol): add forge check presentation metadata
Expose optional rawStatus, isManual, and requiresAction fields while keeping older check payloads backward-compatible.
* fix(gitea): model Actions jobs as tasks
Gitea's /actions/tasks endpoint returns individual jobs rather than workflow runs. Preserve sibling tasks from the latest execution, avoid collapsing same-name jobs, and enrich blocked tasks with run-level approval metadata.
* feat(app): distinguish forge check presentation states
* fix(gitlab): preserve pipeline job semantics
* refactor(app): centralize forge check presentation policy
Use one canonical category order, count shape, visual policy, and translated copy mapping across sidebar, hover-card, PR-pane, and GitLab pipeline surfaces.
* refactor: consolidate forge check handling
* feat(forge): auto-attach pasted forge references
* docs(compat): correct forge rollout metadata
* refactor(forge): model check nuances as traits
* fix(forge): harden checks from branch review
Structural Gitea Actions shadow dedup by run id (verified upstream),
rerun grouping without workflow_id, shared trait/status constants and
Gitea state mapping in the protocol package, all cloud host aliases in
pasted-link matching, logged glab job-detail failures, concurrent
approvals/pipeline fetch, checks aggregate from the same pipeline as
the job list, and removal of the unread check-level rawStatus. The
released pipeline-level rawStatus is staged for removal under
COMPAT(pipelineRawStatus).
* fix(gitea): detect fork-PR Actions approval hold as action_required
gitea.com represents a fork PR awaiting Actions approval as a run in
status "waiting" with no tasks and pending shadow commit statuses; it
does not expose need_approval. The previous mapping only set
action_required from a task with blocked+need_approval, so the gate
never surfaced (0 tasks -> early return; need_approval absent). Detect
the hold from /actions/runs: a waiting/blocked run whose PR is
cross-repo (head.repo.id != base.repo.id), or one that does expose
need_approval (self-hosted). Tag the run's pending shadow statuses
action_required. Runs are only fetched when a pending shadow has no
covering task, keeping the common path at two requests. Verified live
against gitea.com fork PR (run 715170, waiting, cross-repo).
* fix(gitea): resolve cross-fork PRs by head sha
The current-PR matcher gated candidates on the checkout owner
(giteaHeadOwner === expectedHeadOwner), which excludes every fork PR:
its head carries the fork owner while the checkout is the base repo, so
a fork PR - the only shape that can be approval-held on Gitea - never
resolved and its checks never showed in-app. GitLab has no such gate
(it resolves fork MRs from the target project by source branch). Accept
a recent PR whose head sha equals the workspace head sha regardless of
owner; the sha is an unambiguous identity, so the anti-collision owner
gate still applies when no sha match is available. Verified live against
gitea.com fork PR #6 (resolves + renders action_required).

* feat(app): let the file panel close its tree rail
The file panel's tree rail was permanent on desktop — the changes panel
had a folder-tree toggle in its toolbar, the file toolbar had nothing, so
the rail was there whether you wanted it or not.
The changes panel's private DesktopTreeToggle becomes a shared
TreeRailToggle so both toolbars render the same affordance; that also
drops the treeToggleStyle prop threaded through ChangesToolbarProps,
which recomputed exactly what the component already built internally.
The i18n keys move out of workspace.git.diff into workspace.tree, since a
shared component reaching into the git namespace would rot.
The two rails keep independent flags — the file rail in panel-store, the
changes rail in useChangesPreferences — so closing one leaves the other
alone. FileTreeToggle wires itself to the store rather than taking a
callback: the bar renders several components below FilePanel, where the
rail actually lives.
Both rails also get narrower (320 -> 260 default, 200 -> 180 minimum).
The persist version bump resets treeRailWidth on purpose: nearly every
existing install carries the old 320 default, so without the reset the
narrower rail would only ever reach new users. Anyone who dragged their
rail to a deliberate custom width loses it once.
Note that MIN_CONTENT_WIDTH still clamps the rail to
`containerWidth - 240`, so in a narrow pane the new default never
applies — that floor, not the default, is what sets the width there.
* feat(app): make the side panel an empty workspace surface
The fixed, hideable side panel keeps supporting context beside an agent without seeding content. Pane-local choices stay local, while implicit supporting opens follow a persisted routing preference.
* test(app): exercise side panel policy through its capability boundary
The browser rail journey already covers the real tree-toggle behavior. Side-panel policy tests now pass their platform capability through the public boundary instead of replacing a production module.
* test(app): expect an empty side panel after upgrade
* test(app): expect an empty first split pane
* test(app): account for the empty side panel in split retention
* feat(app): make workspace panel tabs independent
Give explicit New actions fresh tab instances, keep panel state opaque to tab management, preserve File navigation context, and stabilize uncached File transitions.
* fix(app): preserve file conflicts during preview refresh
Keep the current preview mounted for same-target reads and conversions so the editor retains its conflict observation state. Clear retained previews only when the file target changes.
Treat the appearance setting as the rendered base size so the type ramp scales predictably. Native starts one pixel larger while web and desktop preserve the authored 14px base, with legacy values migrated on load.
* fix(app): keep check rows the same height with and without "Add to chat"
A check row was minHeight 32 plus 8pt of vertical padding, but the xs
Button in its trailing slot is 28pt tall. The button stacked on the
padding rather than fitting inside the row, so a row grew to 44pt the
moment "Add to chat" appeared and the list visibly shifted as rows
gained the button.
Rows are single-line by construction, so the row now declares a fixed
height instead of a floor a child can outgrow. That height comes from
CONTROL_HEIGHTS, the same source the button sizes from, so the two
cannot drift apart later. GitLab pipeline rows share this style and get
the fix too.
* feat(app): summarize pull request checks and group them by status
The checks section listed every check inline under a bare "Checks"
header with three count pills. On a repo with a real matrix that meant
a wall of undifferentiated rows that pushed the activity timeline off
the pane, and the pills made the reader add up numbers to work out
whether the run was actually in trouble.
The section now leads with the answer — a headline that names the
outcome, a one-line count breakdown, and a ring showing the statuses in
proportion — then groups the rows by status with failures first, and
scrolls in place past roughly eight rows instead of growing without
bound. Groups collapse individually.
The derivation lives in checks-summary.ts as one pure function, so the
headline, the ring, and the group labels cannot disagree about the same
run. The rendering, the row, and the check identity move out of pane.tsx
into an owned module; the pane now wires it and nothing more.
Running checks also gain a timing. formatCheckRunDuration required both
a start and a completion, so anything still going showed nothing at all.
It now measures an unfinished run to now. The wire deliberately carries
formatted strings rather than raw timestamps — there is a test asserting
check timestamps are stripped — so the daemon does the measuring and the
client only decides how to say it: a bare "2m" on a running row would
read as "took 2m", so those rows say "running 2m".
Three systems were reporting the same states: a full and a muted status
tier in the theme, plus raw palette steps in StatusBadge and
getStatusDotColor. A PR icon was muted in the sidebar and full-strength
in the PR panel, and the Resolved badge used a theme-independent green
so it painted a dark block in light mode. The muted tier is deleted and
every status surface now reads the one token per signal.
Dots keep a band of their own. A dot is a few points of solid colour
with no shape to read and no label attached, and the running one pulses,
so at the status band's lightness it sat below the check icons and host
badge on its own row — backwards, since the dot is the row's state.
Chroma caps at 90% of gamut rather than 100% because at the edge green
reaches C=0.215 while blue manages 0.116 and the set stops reading as
one family; dark lightness caps at 0.72 because red desaturates to pink
above it.
Host badges needed a foreground variant of the identity table. That
table is tuned for a white letter on the colour as a fill; used as text
it cannot clear 4.5:1 on both themes at once, since light needs
luminance <= 0.183 and dark needs >= 0.212. The new set is generated on
the status family's exact lightness and chroma fraction, so a host name
and a CI check in the same meta row carry equal weight instead of the
brighter one winning the row.
Also: PR avatars had their own eight-hex palette and hash duplicating
identity-colors; workspace rows under a project group now indent to the
same rail as status-grouped rows; group headers are muted; and the
pulsing dot is faster and fades further.
* refactor(forge): forge-neutral foundation (GitHub-only)
Decouple git-hosting from GitHub behind a neutral abstraction (issue #1616), GitHub-only for now; existing GitHub behaviour is unchanged.
- Forge manifest, neutral ForgeService contract, forge registry + resolver, and a client forge-module registry.
- GitHub code renamed to the neutral shape; PR/Issue attachment wording preserved.
- forge.search.response enums parse tolerantly (unknown kind/auth state degrade instead of breaking the client).
- createPullRequest reports typed CLI/auth errors instead of a generic message.
- forge-resolver host/remote caches are LRU-bounded.
- Forge host trust is explicit: only a known cloud host or a CLI-authenticated host is ever talked to; an unauthenticated GitHub Enterprise host fails resolution instead of routing to github.com.
- Docs: forge-providers guide, glossary and i18n forge-copy conventions, architecture and rpc-namespacing terminology.
- Vitest React Native mocks (unistyles, svg, linking, lucide) consolidated into shared aliased test-stubs.
* feat(forge): GitLab adapter, forge-aware UI, pipelines and approvals
GitLab adapter over the glab CLI on the neutral contracts: MR status, forge-aware UI, pipeline tree, and N-of-M approvals.
- threadIsResolved is part of the neutral timeline item.
- Pipeline load failures show an error instead of an empty section.
- Manual pipeline jobs render as pending.
- Fork/detached MR head pipelines are fetched by MR iid (glab ci get --merge-request).
* feat(forge): Gitea family adapter (Gitea, Forgejo, Codeberg)
One adapter over the tea CLI serving Gitea, Forgejo, and Codeberg on the neutral contracts.
- CI status aggregates commit statuses and Actions runs together.
- Gitea's terminal "warning" state maps to failure on server and client.
- Gitea Actions check details are reachable from the PR pane by workflowRunId.
* refactor(forge): localize compatibility handling
* test(forge): expect normalized GitLab facts

* feat(app): add toolbar and loading states to the GitHub PR panel
Adds a toolbar under the PR title with a refresh button (refreshes git
and GitHub status + timeline in one tap), an always-visible View Pull
Request button, and a Merge control with a method dropdown that is
disabled-with-reason when the PR can't be merged yet.
The merge control reuses the existing git-actions policy verbatim via a
new buildPrPanelMergeActions selector fed into GitActionsSplitButton, so
no merge readiness/squash/auto-merge logic is duplicated.
Also replaces the empty-state flash with skeletons: a full-panel
skeleton while PR status loads and an activity skeleton while the
timeline loads, with empty states shown only when loaded-and-empty and
an error state with retry.
* refactor(app): tidy PR panel skeleton (i18n, shared pulse, index)
Addresses review feedback on the PR panel work:
- Localize the skeleton's "Checks" label via t() instead of hardcoding.
- Hoist the shared SkeletonPulse + useSkeletonPulse into activity-skeleton
so pane-skeleton reuses them instead of duplicating the pulse driver.
- Export PullRequestPaneError/Skeleton from the module index and import
them through it, matching the module's existing public surface.
* test(app): remove mock-based PR pane test
* fix(app): simplify PR panel toolbar
* fix(app): report PR panel retry failures
PR badges in the sidebar rows, hover card, and right-sidebar PR tab now
show the number alone. The Scripts and Open-in-editor header buttons drop
their labels and gain a min height so they keep the same size icon-only.
