* feat(plugins): add React Native UI primitives
Give client plugins host-owned adaptive UI without exposing app internals. Preserve plugin runtime contexts when modal content moves through the compact portal host.
* docs(plugins): clarify host UI reference
* refactor(plugins): harden host UI boundary
Replace mocked pass-through coverage with a real browser plugin journey, keep host runtime ownership inside the evaluator, preserve toast context across compact portals, and expose modal content as a compound component.
* fix(plugins): defer native UI presentation runtime
Loading the plugin evaluator initialized the modal and toast presentation stacks even when no plugin requested host UI. Keep the capability stable while delaying platform-heavy presentation code until Modal.Content renders.
* refactor(plugins): move modal metadata to root
Keep Modal.Content body-only while the top-level Modal owns the host-rendered title and leading icon. This leaves presentation metadata stable as the compound API gains future regions.
* feat(plugins): add timeline item contributions
Keep canonical daemon history unchanged while plugins project and render custom timeline items in clients. Live matches refresh authoritative projected history before replacement so lifecycle deltas stay collapsed.
* fix(nix): update npm dependency hash
The plugin SDK lockfile change invalidated the fixed-output npm dependency derivation. Use the hash calculated by the macOS Nix build for the current lockfile.
Make every trusted Git repository directly distributable without introducing a registry or package manager. Managed checkouts retain their resolved commit, track branches explicitly, and stage validation before activation so failed updates restore the running version.
A pairing offer remains valid across daemon restarts, so remove the incorrect rotation guidance and warn users where the durable credential is displayed.
Show a concise login success state, scope starter choices to available Hub connections, wait for daemon capabilities, and avoid partial starter bundles when setup cannot proceed.
* feat(hub): guide setup with provider IDs
* fix(hub): preserve login setup state
* feat(hub): select starter agent runtime
Use the connected daemon's provider snapshot so generated Hub bundles only
contain complete provider, model, and mode combinations.
* fix(hub): stage starter runtime choices
Keep providers with valid modes selectable when the daemon has no default mode, so users explicitly choose the complete runtime.
* fix(hub): scope runtime choices to workspace
Provider capabilities can vary by repository, so request the snapshot for the bundle directory that guided setup will deploy.
Adds plugin-contributed light and dark app themes, including persistence, host-aware coalescing, fallback behavior, documentation, examples, and browser/iOS QA.
The daemon imports the plugin SDK at runtime, but the workspace was named
@paseo/plugin and marked private, so it was never published. 0.5.0-beta.1
shipped @getpaseo/server depending on a package that does not exist and
`npm install @getpaseo/cli@beta` failed with a 404 for every user.
Two things hid it. sync-workspace-versions only rewrites deps matching
@getpaseo/*, so the "*" range on @paseo/plugin survived untouched into the
published tarball. And `npm pack --dry-run`, which is all release:check and
CI run, lists files without ever resolving the dependency graph.
Renaming to @getpaseo/plugin rather than publishing the old name: @paseo is
not our scope on npm, so that name could never have been published at all.
The rename also brings the package under the version-sync filter, which is
what pins it correctly from here on.
Plugins scaffolded against the old name still import @paseo/plugin. Both
spellings resolve through plugin-sdk-specifiers.ts, tagged COMPAT with a
removal date, so existing plugins keep loading.
This does not repair 0.5.0-beta.1 — a published tarball's dependencies
cannot be changed. The package publishes with the next release.
The plugin compiler spawned esbuild through app.asar, and the subprocess
imported the React client barrel. Point esbuild at the unpacked binary,
add a react-free @paseo/plugin/server entry, and pass a typed PluginTheme
so plugin UI follows the active theme on desktop and mobile.
Keep the entry point focused on contribution wiring so client UI and daemon handlers can use their own runtime APIs safely. Surface compilation failures and lifecycle transitions in the retained plugin log tail.
* feat(plugins): add workspace panels and command center contributions
Give local plugins contextual UI entry points without making the daemon interpret client placement or callbacks. Panels receive stable IDs and read cached client state through required selectors with shallow equality, avoiding unrelated guest rerenders and context-discovery RPCs.
* fix(plugins): align shared client state ownership
Workspace panels and Command Center callbacks consume the same frozen client snapshots, so their adapter belongs to the plugin boundary rather than either contribution surface. Refresh the Nix dependency hash for the selector-store dependency added by this feature.
* feat(cli): manage projects
Expose the existing project lifecycle through one CLI command group so projects can be managed without opening the app.
* fix(cli): preserve remote project paths
Project paths belong to the daemon when a target is explicit. Require that path instead of resolving the CLI machine's cwd, and keep local convenience resolution for the default connection.
* docs(cli): document project management
* docs(cli): remove repeated project reference
* feat(plugins): expose Paseo API to local plugins
Plugin surfaces borrow the selected host connection while subprocess handlers receive an exclusively owned IPC session, so plugins can use normal workspace and agent operations without inventing another transport.
* feat(plugins): reload global enablement safely
Treat the global plugin switch as a live daemon setting and teach plugin automation to inspect it before acting. Enabling remains permission-gated because plugin backend code can access the daemon machine and client contributions execute inside the app.
* feat(plugins): expose plugin logs
Capture plugin stdout and stderr separately from IPC so authors can debug initialization, RPC, cleanup, and crash behavior from the app or CLI. Keep a bounded tail across lifecycle recovery while preserving structured output in the daemon log.
* fix(build): order plugin dependency builds
* test(plugins): align startup and CLI expectations
* feat(daemon): reload configuration without restarting
Keep config validation, reloadability classification, override handling, and atomic runtime application inside the daemon so local and remote clients share one authoritative workflow.
* fix(daemon): preserve reload resource ownership
Keep every materialized provider client under daemon-lifetime ownership and classify speech overrides from resolved providers. Restore the complete WebSocket config-store test contract exposed by CI.
* feat(plugins): add local plugin surfaces and RPCs
Keep plugin execution scoped to its daemon while allowing one local TypeScript entry point to contribute validated RPCs and native client surfaces. Paseo owns host selection, navigation chrome, and per-installation query caches.
* feat(plugins): add Linear attachment source
* fix(nix): refresh npm dependency hash
* test(server): exclude internal sessions from Hub counts
* test(server): distinguish Hub execution sessions
* feat(plugins): make local plugins explicitly opt-in
Keep plugin loading dormant until configuration enables it, and collect unsupported examples under one directory.
* refactor(plugins): establish host boundaries
* fix(nix): refresh plugin dependency hash
* fix(plugins): complete packaging and startup rollback
* feat(plugins): add managed local lifecycle
Make trusted local plugins recoverable and authorable through daemon-owned lifecycle operations, host settings, and a capability-gated CLI. Reloads fully stop the previous plugin before starting new code, while generated projects provide strict TSX checking without changing runtime dependency ownership.
* fix(nix): refresh plugin dependency hash
* feat(cli): add Hub init wizard
Reuse the existing login, daemon enrollment, project listing, and deploy paths so onboarding stays compatible with current Hub servers. Generated triggers require an explicit sender allowlist and existing bundles are never modified.
* fix(cli): stop Hub init until daemon is ready
A durable Hub relationship can be reconnecting without being ready to execute workflows. Keep enrollment skipped, but stop the wizard until daemon status reports connected.
* fix(cli): wait for Hub daemon readiness
Both fresh enrollment and reconnect paths can expose a durable relationship before the execution socket is connected. Poll the existing status RPC with a bounded wait before resolving projects or deploying.
* fix(cli): make hub init detect resolvable resources
* fix(hub): make daemon disconnect unilateral
Local relationship removal must not depend on reaching the Hub. Fence execution authority, make one bounded courtesy revocation attempt, then clear local state so status and reconnect eligibility agree immediately.
* fix(hub): preserve disconnect intent across crashes
Persist the terminal disconnect marker only while the bounded Hub notification is in flight. Startup removes that marker, so a crash cannot restore the old relationship or create a revocation retry loop.
* feat(skills): add Paseo help and provider diagnostics
Give support agents a topology-aware troubleshooting entry point backed by the deployed documentation index, and expose the daemon provider diagnostic through the CLI so agents can inspect the affected host directly. Agent-launching skills now use configured profiles instead of the removed orchestration preferences.
* test(cli): keep provider diagnostics on real boundaries
Remove the internal client mock and preserve its normalization and host-targeting assertions through the existing isolated-daemon coverage.
* feat(cli): add workspace rename command
`paseo workspace rename <workspace-id> <title>` sets a workspace's
user-visible title through the existing workspace.title.set RPC, and
`--reset` clears the override so the name reverts to the branch or
directory. The command reads the descriptor back so the output shows
what a reset reverted to.

* fix(cli): harden workspace rename against read-back and arg failures
Review findings on the rename command:
- A failed workspace list sweep after a successful title change reported
the whole command as failed. The read-back is display-only, so it now
runs outside the mutation's error path and degrades to a null name.
- Only --reset needs the descriptor read back; a set title is already the
resolved display name, so the common path no longer pages the list.
- Dropped the `"code" in error` rethrow. Nothing in that block throws a
CommandError, but DaemonRpcError always carries a `code` property even
when it is undefined, so the guard let those through to render as
UNKNOWN_ERROR with a stack instead of WORKSPACE_RENAME_FAILED.
- Commander 12 allows excess positionals, so an unquoted multi-word title
renamed to its first word and dropped the rest. The command now rejects
excess arguments.

* refactor(cli): report the rename RPC response instead of reading back
Reading the descriptor back to show what --reset reverted to was the only
reason rename needed a paged workspace sweep, and that sweep dragged in
everything around it: a failure path that could report an applied rename
as failed, a nullable name, and a bespoke warning sink to tell the two
null cases apart.
Sibling commands don't do this. `workspace archive`, `agent mode`, and
`schedule update` all report what the RPC returned and stop; the one
command that reads back is `agent update`, which has the same "applied
but reported as failed" bug. So rename now mirrors `workspace archive`.
`--reset` reports `title: null` rather than naming what it reverted to;
`paseo workspace ls` shows the resolved name. This also reverts the
`collectWorkspaces` extraction, whose only second caller was rename.

* refactor(storage): remove chat rooms and agent loops
This is the prerequisite cleanup for the storage backend migration. Legacy wire schemas remain temporarily so mixed-version peers can still parse old messages, while daemon callers now use query-shaped AgentStorage methods that can map directly to SQL later.
* test(cli): remove retired chat and loop coverage
* feat(hub): deploy canonical workflow bundles
Keep CLI deployment aligned with Hub's authored bundle boundary so validation and activation receive the same deterministic source files. Public documentation now teaches that boundary as the only configuration format.
* test(hub): assert validation diagnostics directly
* refactor(hub): deepen HTTP client module
* feat(hub): validate named agent configurations
* docs(hub): align Claude mode example
* feat(providers): add native options and exact MCP grants
Keep provider policy in provider-owned schemas so unattended Hub runs can grant only requested tools from injected MCP servers. Preserve the native resolved sandbox policy when a workflow override is present, including configured writable roots.
* test(hub): verify real provider tool policy
* test(app): avoid pinning transient restart status
* feat(cli): add durable Hub login
Keep organization-scoped human credentials separate from daemon relationship authority. Connect now exchanges explicit or stored CLI authority for a one-time enrollment token, while logout removes human access without implicitly disconnecting automation.
* fix(cli): require TLS for remote Hub credentials
Durable Hub credentials are bearer secrets, so remote origins must not receive them over cleartext HTTP. Keep literal loopback HTTP available for local Hub development.
* fix(cli): make Hub destinations explicit
Resolve optional Hub origins through one shared precedence policy so active logins remain the default context and credentials stay origin-bound. Report the selected destination before human-facing work, keep structured output auditable, and preserve login authority until requested daemon disconnection succeeds.
* feat(cli): add Hub configuration deploy
Deploy configuration bytes directly to an explicitly targeted Hub project using only caller-supplied origin and organization API key authority.
* refactor(cli): name Hub deploy contracts
* docs(hub): complete deploy CLI guidance
* docs(hub): link deployed API references
* feat(cli): bundle referenced Hub partials
Send exact referenced prompt-partial content alongside YAML so Hub can resolve local includes while inline-only configurations keep the existing request shape.
* fix(cli): match Hub YAML size semantics
Apply the finalized Hub request limit to decoded YAML length and cover multibyte configuration payloads without changing the wire body.
* fix(ci): skip unrelated required checks cleanly
Matrix jobs had to start no-op runners to preserve interpolated required-check names. Static named jobs let GitHub report genuine skipped conclusions while keeping those names stable.
* fix(ci): gate changes to install patching script
* fix(ci): route cross-package test contracts narrowly
* fix(ci): keep routed contracts merge-blocking
* fix(server): exclude nested test utilities from builds
* fix(ci): cover app-owned native and browser domains
* refactor(ci): align tests with runtime domains
Own browser specs, desktop specs, and Electron-only app code by stable directories so PR routing does not depend on filename conventions. Keep desktop integration coverage inside the required desktop check.
* fix(ci): keep routing and desktop suites isolated
The routing regression must run before dependency installation, and desktop Vitest must not collect Playwright-owned specs.
* fix(ci): isolate desktop e2e runtime
* perf(test): isolate Playwright workers
* perf(test): parallelize Playwright within specs
* fix(test): keep Playwright file scheduling
* fix(test): share dynamic Metro fixture
* fix(test): preserve own-host restart fixtures
* fix(ci): preserve routed contracts after rebase
* Stabilize Playwright wheel-scroll assertions
* feat: make relay opt-in for device pairing
* fix(relay): keep pairing state authoritative
* fix(relay): refresh pairing state across transports
* fix(onboard): honor explicit relay opt-out
* fix(relay): surface transport startup failures
* fix(pairing): gate offers for older daemons
* test(cli): rely on real pairing transport coverage
* fix(cli): report live relay without a pid file
* fix(relay): synchronize config during daemon startup
* fix(relay): preserve mutability for ignored overrides
* fix(cli): use reachable daemon for pairing
* fix(app): redirect invalid pair device routes
* fix(pairing): support remote host device pairing
Keep Pair Device host-relative through the existing settings and daemon RPC flow. Route CLI output through an injected adapter so workflow tests do not mutate process globals.
* fix(pairing): validate pairing destinations
Expose the host-relative Pair Device flow on every supported app platform. Reject a reachable daemon whose identity does not match the requested Paseo home before reading or mutating its pairing state.
* fix(pairing): render QR codes across platforms
Generate SVG text without DOM or canvas and render it through the existing cross-platform SVG stack.
* fix(cli): pair from persisted relay state
Allow explicit relay pairing while the daemon is stopped when relay is already enabled in persisted configuration.
* feat(cli): connect daemons to Hub through browser approval
Let interactive setup complete through a short-lived browser authorization while preserving --token for automation and existing integrations.
* ci: build server before CLI tests
* fix(cli): keep Hub approval polling within expiry
Bound both response headers and body consumption to the original authorization lifetime so stalled responses remain retryable without extending approval. Run the CLI test helper through Node and the resolved tsx entry for cross-platform behavior.
* fix(cli): bound Hub registration startup
Fail a stalled authorization start within a fixed timeout without retrying the non-idempotent request. Declare the response validator as a direct CLI runtime dependency.
* fix(cli): restrict Hub activation URLs
* fix(cli): harden Hub approval transport
* fix(pairing): keep terminal QR codes scannable
Prompt framing could wrap dense QR codes and alter long pairing links. Print pairing instructions directly, add the standard quiet zone, and suppress codes that cannot fit without auto-wrapping.
* fix(pairing): contain terminal QR background
* feat(desktop): open existing agents from links
Register a stable agent deep link and route it through the existing Desktop window. Add a matching CLI command that resolves the local server and activates the requested agent without creating or messaging it.
* fix(desktop): recover agent link delivery
Adding or cloning a project now registers it and opens workspace setup
instead of creating a workspace implicitly. Keep Add Project independently
mounted from Search so closing one cannot control the other.
* fix(server): prevent hidden Codex subagents and stuck turns
Codex can announce native children only through its mirrored lifecycle stream, while rejected interrupts previously looked like successful local cancellation. Preserve those child announcements and keep manager state active until the provider acknowledges cancellation.
* fix(server): block actions after rejected cancellation
A provider can accept a turn before publishing the turn ID needed to interrupt it. Keep that interval non-cancelable, and prevent reload, replacement, or rewind from proceeding without an acknowledged cancellation.
* fix(server): surface rejected agent cancellations
Replacement prompts and Stop requests could appear accepted after the provider kept ownership of the active turn. Complete replacement cancellation before detaching the stream, and return cancellation failures through the client response.
* fix(server): handle turn completion during cancellation
* fix: finish cancellation lifecycle handling
* fix(server): close remaining cancellation races
* fix(server): settle autonomous cancellations
* fix: honor cancellation failures at call sites
* refactor(server): centralize agent run state
* fix(server): keep pending runs isolated from stale events
* fix: surface remaining cancellation failures
* fix(server): narrow cancellation error handling
* feat: clone GitHub repo into a workspace
Add an end-to-end "clone a GitHub repo and register it as a Paseo
workspace" flow: a new workspace.github.clone RPC, daemon handler,
client method, CLI `paseo clone` command, and a GitHub-repo mode in
the project picker modal. Gated behind the workspaceGithubClone
server capability flag.
- protocol: workspace.github.clone request/response schemas + feature flag
- server: handleWorkspaceGithubCloneRequest, normalizeCloneRepository
- client: DaemonClient.cloneGithubWorkspace
- cli: `paseo clone <repo> --dir <path> [--protocol https|ssh]`
- app: GitHub-repo mode, clone-protocol picker, error surfacing
Review fixes:
- CLI clone now checks the workspaceGithubClone capability and fails
fast with a clear "update the host" error instead of hanging for the
full request timeout against an older daemon.
- Replace the duplicated client-side URL-detection regex (app + CLI)
with a shared isCompleteGitRemote() in @getpaseo/protocol/git-remote,
backed by parseGitRemoteLocation so clients classify remotes
identically to the daemon (fixes confusing errors for git://, ftp://,
file:// inputs).
- Add git-remote.test.ts covering the shared classifier.

* Fix macOS CLI daemon relaunch path
* test(cli): mock helper existence in daemon launch test
* fix(desktop): launch packaged CLI through Helper
The packaged macOS CLI shim entered through the main app executable, so daemon supervision inherited app lifecycle behavior and surfaced Dock icons. Make Helper the required macOS CLI runtime, keep daemon relaunches on process.execPath, and cover cold bundled CLI daemon starts in release smoke.

* fix(daemon): log stop reasons and client identity
Record websocket client identity, process memory/uptime, and shutdown reasons across CLI, desktop, supervisor, and worker paths so daemon drops can be traced from the triggering client to worker termination.
* fix(daemon): keep shutdown diagnostics in sync
Test drift: supervisor and relay tests still asserted the old log text and metadata shape after shutdown diagnostics started logging structured reasons and relay connection ids. Update those assertions to the new diagnostic contract.
Also centralize client lifecycle reason normalization and derive desktop daemon stop reasons from one tuple so future changes cannot silently drift.
* fix(client): wait longer for session responses
* fix(client): default RPC waits to sixty seconds
* fix(app): preserve detached stream scroll on delayed history
Code drift: longer client RPC waits let delayed timeline responses arrive after a user scroll-away, so web stream anchoring must not reattach on transient scroll-top resets.
Restore the 15s connect deadline and leave app initialization slack above the default 60s session RPC wait.
* fix(client): keep helper waits within caller deadlines
Review fix: the 60s default session RPC wait leaked into wait previews and waitForAgentUpsert helper fetches. Bound those helper RPCs to the caller deadline or a short best-effort preview timeout, and allow small scroll ranges to reattach at bottom.
* fix(client): respect caller timeout budgets
* fix(cli): keep diagnostic probes responsive
* Refactor daemon client request options
* Preserve daemon client legacy overloads
* Serve the web client from the daemon
Keep the bundled browser UI opt-in and exclude it from desktop packaging so desktop builds do not ship a duplicate renderer.
* Escape daemon web UI bootstrap hint
* Fix bundled web UI dist path
* Remove a worktree when its last workspace is archived
Archiving is now workspace-centric: the UI always archives a workspace,
and a worktree's directory is removed only when its last referencing
workspace is archived (derived from ownership + a single reference
count). The "remove the worktree from disk?" prompt is gone; archiving
warns only when the workspace is dirty or has unpushed commits.
MCP archive_worktree and the CLI keep the explicit lower-level behavior:
archive every workspace backing the directory, then remove it.
Auto-archive-after-merge and create-agent auto-archive respect the
reference count like any other workspace archival.
The policy now lives in two modules - a server archive service and a
client archive hook - with the reference-count check in exactly one
place. The deleteWorktreeFromDisk request field is retained but ignored
for wire back-compat.
* Tidy archive-policy internals and close test gaps
Follow-up polish on the archive-policy consolidation; no behavior change.
Structure: the server archive service is renamed to reflect that it now
owns all archive policy (the file and its types no longer say "worktree"
where they mean "archive"); the client archive input derives the
workspace kind from the canonical type instead of re-listing it; the
not-found target is typed string|null instead of an empty-string
sentinel; a redundant workspace-update emit and the ambiguous
worktrees-root naming are cleaned up. Wire, SDK, and keybinding names are
deliberately left unchanged for back-compat.
Tests: re-home the archiving-state lifecycle and per-workspace snapshot
assertions; pin worktree-kind acceptance through archive_workspace, the
ignored deleteWorktreeFromDisk field, and three-workspace archive-all;
add a Playwright spec for the dirty/unpushed worktree archive flow (the
warning gates it, confirming removes the directory) and the bulk
remove-project confirm branch.
* Fix the hanging worktree-archive risk-warning e2e spec
The spec added in the previous commit hung deterministically, locally and
in CI. Two test-only bugs, no product change.
The archive click opens a synchronous window.confirm(); the spec
registered a passive dialog waiter but only dismissed the dialog after
awaiting the click, so the click never resolved (Playwright won't settle
a click while a dialog is open) - a circular wait. Answer the dialog
inline via page.once("dialog", ...) before the click resolves, matching
the proven worktree-archive spec.
The seed also committed on a never-pushed branch, so aheadOfOrigin was
null and the "1 unpushed commit" warning never appeared. Push the branch
to set its upstream before the local commit, so it reports exactly one
unpushed commit.
Verified: the spec now passes in ~6s (was a 45s timeout); both the
dismiss-gates and accept-removes paths run.
