Keep workspace setup logs scoped to the visible setup panel (#7407)
* fix(workspaces): observe setup output only in the visible setup panel Setup logs were requested for the whole session, including unrelated workspaces. Use directory status for discovery and source-owned workspace observations for details, preserving legacy delivery only for clients without the negotiated capability. * fix(workspaces): publish external setup progress once per daemon MCP and scheduled setup enter through the broadcast API. Publish them to the shared setup owner before session fanout so each observation gets one update and snapshots survive periods without connected clients. Keep the setup action available on older hosts to explain the required host update. * fix(app): replace setup details with each observation snapshot A host restart can return an empty setup snapshot. Apply that authoritative snapshot so an open panel does not retain output from the previous daemon. Assert setup membership requests as well as delivery in the browser lifecycle regression. * test(workspaces): cover setup status catch-up after directory release * test(workspaces): synchronize setup output and release fixture resources |

Wait for a plugin reload to finish instead of failing at the request deadline (#6306)
* Wait for plugin reload completion instead of the request deadline The daemon answers plugin.reload.request only once the plugin is running again or has failed, and a reload queues behind other plugin lifecycle work such as an install with a preparation command. The shared client applied its sixty-second session RPC deadline to that request, so a slow reload failed with "Timeout waiting for message" while the daemon kept loading the plugin, inviting a reload the daemon was still running. Reload now waits for the daemon's own answer. Enable and disable keep the session deadline, and a real startup failure still reaches the caller. * Cover a slow plugin reload end to end The CLI fixture now holds its own git build on a gate file, starts a reload of an installed plugin behind that queued install, observes the reload request at the proxy, keeps the gate closed past the client's former one-minute deadline, and then asserts the reload's real result: CLI exit 0, the plugin running, and exactly one reactivation. Listing the plugin during the wait stays readable and does not restart it. A plugin that cannot start still fails its reload with the daemon's error. The request proxy that recorded install sources becomes a small observer that records any session request, so the wait is measured from the request boundary rather than from process start. Verified: npx tsx packages/cli/tests/e2e/plugin-lifecycle.test.ts exits 0 in 135 s; the same fixture without the new scenario takes 66 s. * Document how a reload reports its result The CLI docs now say `paseo plugin reload` waits for the daemon to stop and start the plugin, that cancelling the command or losing the connection does not stop the daemon's work, and that `plugin ls` shows the previous state until the reload finishes. The plugin reference records the lifecycle fact behind it: a reload queues behind the daemon's other plugin work, the daemon answers when the plugin is running again or has failed, and status reads, Settings and the logs are not the reload's outcome. * Cover the Settings reload wait end to end Adds a browser scenario for the ticket's user-facing half: with a gated git install holding the daemon's plugin lifecycle queue, the row's Reload goes out, the test keeps the gate closed past sixty seconds, asserts the row stays pending with no error feedback, then releases the build and asserts the daemon's plugin.reload.response and the app's "Reloaded e2e-plugin" result. The scenario turns plugins on through the daemon instead of the global switch, whose transient "Plugins enabled" confirmation is not its subject. The wait is measured from the reload request frame, which is an outbound frame, not from the response stream. Verified: npx playwright test --project=browser e2e/browser/plugin-management.spec.ts -g "keeps Reload pending past a minute" -> 1 passed (1.5m); plugin-reload-pending.png, plugin-reload-past-deadline.png and plugin-reload-completed.png show the pending row, the surface past the former deadline with no error, and the finished reload. * Correct the status guidance for a cancelled reload Review finding: the note said a listing keeps the plugin's previous state until the reload finishes, but that only holds while the reload is still queued. Once it executes, the daemon removes the plugin from the runtime catalog before stopping it (plugins/runtime.ts:377-382) and resolvePluginStatus maps an enabled plugin that is not running to "failed" (plugins/index.ts:71-78), so a listing read in that window shows failed for a healthy reload. Both passages now separate the two windows and say that neither a listing nor the logs report the outcome of the outstanding reload. The interim "failed" itself is TUC-1401. * Harden the reload coverage against failures and lost connections Review findings folded into the tests: The Settings scenario releases its gated build in a finally block. Before this, a failing assertion left the build polling forever, the daemon's plugin lifecycle queue stayed blocked, and the fixture teardown's own removePlugin timed out behind it. It also asserts the row's actions are enabled again once the reload settles, next to the result feedback. The connection-close regression now reconnects and asserts nothing resends the lost reload; the no-replay invariant already covered for legacy requests now holds for a pending reload too. Verified: npx vitest run packages/client/src/daemon-client.test.ts -> 161 passed. npx playwright test --project=browser e2e/browser/plugin-management.spec.ts -g "keeps Reload pending past a minute" -> 1 passed (1.4m). * Let the gated build finish before its files go Review finding on packages/cli/tests/e2e/plugin-lifecycle.test.ts:450: the finally block released the gate and deleted the gate directory without waiting for the install and the reload it had started. The build polls for the gate file, so cleanup could delete the release before the child saw it and leave the build waiting until daemon shutdown. The fixture now keeps both promises, releases the gate, and awaits them before deleting their files. Verified: npx tsx packages/cli/tests/e2e/plugin-lifecycle.test.ts -> exit 0, 161 s. * Read the reload scenario as intent, not transport code Review finding: the new browser scenario kept frame parsing, selectors, polling, deadline arithmetic, screenshots and gate cleanup in one body. docs/testing.md asks for complex setup in reusable helpers. The wire observation, the gated queue hold, the row-state assertions, the deadline wait and the surface captures are helpers now, and the body reads as the flow: open Settings, hold the queue, reload, still pending past the deadline, release, read the daemon's result. Verified: npx playwright test --project=browser e2e/browser/plugin-management.spec.ts -g "keeps Reload pending past a minute" -> 1 passed (1.4m). * Keep the reload lifecycle fact in one document Review finding: the cli.md paragraph repeated the queue and interim-state explanation that the plugin reference already owns. CLAUDE.md: "One fact, one doc. Every other mention is a link." The reference keeps the full explanation; the CLI page states what the command does and links there. * Release the gated build when its setup fails Review finding: holdPluginLifecycleQueue started the install, then waited up to 30 seconds for the build's started marker. A preparation that took longer made the helper throw before it returned its cleanup handle and before the test entered its try block, so nothing wrote the release file: the build polled forever, the daemon's plugin lifecycle queue stayed blocked, and the fixture's own removePlugin timed out behind it. The helper now owns that failure path: it releases the gate and drains the install before rethrowing, so a queue it hands out is always settleable. Verified on Linux (Chromium, Playwright): - With the started marker suppressed in a temporary local patch, the run fails at the 30-second marker wait inside the helper and the teardown still completes (both attempts ~33 seconds, no removePlugin request timeout). - With the marker in place, the scenario passes: 1 passed (1.4m). * Keep an early install failure out of the unhandled path Review finding: the marker wait in holdPluginLifecycleQueue ran before the install promise had a rejection handler, so a preparation that failed or a connection that closed before the build wrote its marker surfaced as an unhandled rejection, which fails the run before the helper's own catch can drain the queue. The helper attaches a handler the moment the install starts and races the marker wait against the install, so an early failure reaches the caller as the daemon's own error, a build that never writes its marker still fails as a 30-second marker timeout, and every path releases the gate and drains the install. Verified on Linux (Chromium, Playwright), patching the build command locally for each failure branch: - Early failure (build exits 1): fails in 4.2 s with the daemon's DaemonRpcError for plugin.source.install.request, no unhandled rejection, teardown completes. - No marker (build waits for the gate): fails at the 30-second marker wait, no unhandled rejection, teardown completes with no removePlugin request timeout. - Unpatched: 1 passed (1.5m). * Keep a failed launch from ending the run before its cleanup |

Download files over the connected host (#6595)
* Let readFile callers disable the request timeout readFile resolves only when FileEnd arrives, so the default 60 s request timeout bounds the whole transfer. A large file over a slow relay fails before it finishes even though every chunk is arriving. Thread an optional timeout through requestFileExplorer; 0 disables the timer, as the workspace.create request already does, and a dead connection still rejects on disconnect. The relay e2e case reads a 1 MiB file through a real daemon and a local relay with timeout 0 and compares SHA-256 digests with the source. * Reject a binary file transfer whose byte count differs from FileBegin.size concatByteChunks allocated FileBegin.size bytes and copied the chunks in: a short transfer resolved as a zero-padded file, and a long one threw a RangeError inside the transport callback and left the request pending. Count the received bytes at FileEnd and reject the read when they differ from the announced size. * Download files over the session socket when no direct connection is active The download store only knew the HTTP token route and picked the first directTcp connection in the host profile, whatever connection the host runtime was using. A relay-only host has none, so every download ended in "Download host is unavailable." (#543). SSH, socket and pipe hosts failed the same way, and a stale directTcp entry won over a working relay (#3753). Choose the transport from the active connection: directTcp keeps the HTTP token download unchanged; anything else reads the file over the session socket with the binary frames previews already use, then hands the bytes to the browser's download manager on web and Electron or writes them to the cache directory and offers the share sheet on native. Files over 64 MiB are refused before any byte moves, using the existing fileTooLarge string, and a daemon response without content fails instead of saving an empty file. * fix(app): enforce the session download size limit during the read The token size is sampled before the file is read. Pass the download byte budget through the actual read so a changed file cannot bypass the in-memory limit. Reject oversized messages without disconnecting the host (#6285)
* fix(client): reject a message over the daemon's size limit instead of reconnecting in a loop The daemon closes the WebSocket with 1009 when a message exceeds its 100 MiB limit. A workspace or agent creation that loses its connection mid-request stays pending and, after reconnecting, finds no record of itself on the daemon (the oversized frame was never read), so it resubmits the same frame and the connection drops again every couple of seconds until the app reloads. The client now checks each outbound frame against the same limit, which protocol exports and the daemon sets explicitly, and fails that request with a size error while the connection stays up. Refs #5501 * test(client): cover the UTF-8 byte count at the message size limit * fix(client): reject oversized relay messages without disconnecting Check the encrypted wire size synchronously before submission, so a frame below the direct limit cannot close the relay and leave workspace creation resubmitting forever. Keep the relay limit shared with the existing checkout diff budget. --------- Co-authored-by: paseo-bot[bot] <266920839+paseo-bot[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(workspaces): add background visibility (#5039)
* feat(server): let clients create internal agents The daemon's own branch-name and commit-message generators run as internal agents: never persisted, listed, flagged, announced, or seen by plugin lifecycle hooks. Nothing outside the daemon could ask for one, because the wire config schema strips `internal` and the agent.create transform re-pins it. A plugin that runs a one-turn helper per event therefore left an archived session in History every time. Add an optional `internal` flag to `create_agent_request` (inherited by `agent.create.request`), copy it onto the config in the session's create path, and skip provider session persistence for it like the generators do. The client SDK forwards the flag on both creation paths and gates it once on `server_info.features.internalAgents`. Two daemon paths assumed every agent is public and had to follow: `resolveAgentIdentifier` now accepts a live agent by exact id, since the id set it matched against came from listings that exclude internal agents and left `wait_for_finish` answering "Agent not found"; and archiving an internal agent now closes it without writing the record that `registry.applySnapshot` used to leave behind, so `autoArchive` does not accumulate hidden files on disk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(server): keep internal agents whole through failure, archive, and wait Review follow-ups for internal agents: - A create that fails after the runtime is registered now closes the internal agent before rethrowing, so a hidden runtime cannot outlive the failed request. Public agents keep today's behaviour. - Archiving an internal agent cascades to attached children like any parent. cascadeArchiveChildren takes the parent record instead of reading it back from storage, where an internal agent never is. - The archived snapshot and last message of an internal agent stay readable by exact id for ten minutes, so create-then-waitForFinish returns the finished turn whether the wait lands before or after an auto-archive. Storage plays that role for public agents. - The internal-agent e2e scenarios live in the existing create_agent_request lifecycle suite rather than a new file. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(server): cascade to live internal children and keep a failed internal create's worktree until it closes Internal children never reach storage, so the parent archive cascade scans live agents for them as well. A failed internal create now clears the created id only after the runtime is archived, so worktree cleanup cannot delete the directory under a runtime that would not close. Stored agent payloads carry lastError, so a retained failed helper reports its error through wait_for_finish instead of the generic message. * feat(cli, mcp): expose internal agents and document --no-wait paseo run gains --internal and create_agent gains internal, both forwarded to the create request. --no-wait becomes the documented spelling for returning immediately, matching paseo send; --background and --detach stay as hidden aliases under COMPAT tags. * test: follow the --no-wait rename and stub getRetiredInternalAgent * feat: list internal agents on request and add internal workspaces Internal agents stay hidden by default, but a caller can now ask for them: `fetch_agents_request` takes `filter.includeInternal`, snapshots carry `internal: true`, and `paseo ls --internal` shows them in an INTERNAL column. The app never passes the flag. Workspaces get the same flag. `workspace.create.request` with `internal: true` persists a hidden workspace: listings, update subscriptions, sync reads, empty-project counting, open-by-path, MCP `list_workspaces`, and plugin workspace hooks all skip it unless the caller opts in with `filter.includeInternal`. Every agent created inside an internal workspace is internal and unpersisted; AgentManager applies that from the workspace id before the plugin hook so creators cannot opt out. Archive and shutdown enumerate internal agents so nothing inside an internal workspace outlives it. Surfaces: `paseo workspace create --internal`, `paseo workspace ls --internal`, `paseo run --internal --new-workspace`, MCP `create_workspace({ internal })`, SDK `workspaces.create({ internal })` and `list({ filter: { includeInternal } })`. Clients gate on `features.internalWorkspaces`. feat(usage): show each agent's own plan usage in its context window details (#5975)
* feat(usage): stream reports for live agent accounts Resolve account scope from the running harness environment without invoking lifecycle hooks. Keep the client aggregate result while delivering report updates as each fetch settles; the app presentation follows separately. * fix(usage): retain account scope for open agent sessions Capture the launch environment once per session, independently of lazy child-process startup or exit. Use a session UUID for registry identity. Update remaining global discovery fixtures to the scoped SDK contract. * test(usage): update browser fixtures for scoped report streams * feat(usage): let a usage card show window rows without pins UsageCard takes a required pinnable prop. When false, a window row is a plain bar: no Pressable, hover highlight, or pin glyph. The settings Usage list passes true. * feat(usage): show the agent's usage in the context window popover Reports stream into the query cache as each update arrives, for the host list and for a new per-agent query keyed by agent. The context window popover fetches its agent's reports while open and renders one unpinnable card per report as it lands, a loading sentence before the first, the request error as a sentence, and nothing on hosts without usage reports. * feat(usage): hide the Refresh button on popover usage cards UsageCard takes a required refreshable prop. The popover passes false because its content takes no pointer events, so the button could not be pressed; the card then shows its freshness inline. The settings Usage list keeps the button. * feat(usage): make the sidebar Usage summary opt-in The sidebar Usage item starts hidden on every layout, not only on compact ones, so resolveSidebarNavItems drops its compact input. While the summary is off, the Usage list renders window rows without pins; saved pins stay in preferences and return when it is turned on. Specs that read the summary now turn it on first. * docs(glossary): describe the popover usage card and the opt-in sidebar summary * fix(usage): show a popover request error without retrying A daemon error for an agent's usage, such as an unknown agent, does not heal on retry, and reopening the popover fetches again. Retrying held the loading sentence for about seven seconds before the error. * test(usage): cover agent usage in the context window popover The usage fixture records agentId, streams reports held behind promises, and can switch host support between reloads. The meter spec walks loading, streaming, a report problem, a request error and a host without usage reports, on desktop and compact in both themes. * fix(usage): keep the plain context window tooltip on hosts without usage The popover widened to fit usage cards on every host. Hosts that cannot report usage now keep the tooltip's default padding and width, as before, and mount no usage section. * fix(usage): let a report's Refresh replace it in the agent's list too Refresh wrote the refreshed report only into the host's list, so a card rendered from an agent's list kept the old report. Both lists now sit under one host key and Refresh replaces the report in each that holds it. * feat(usage): open the context window details in a sheet on compact screens Wide screens keep the tooltip. On compact screens pressing the meter opens a content-sized bottom sheet titled Context window. Both render one ContextWindowDetails body; only the sheet's usage cards have Refresh, since the tooltip cannot be pressed. Pins stay off in both. * test(usage): cover the compact context window sheet On the compact viewport the meter opens the sheet; its cards have Refresh, a Refresh replaces the card, and Close dismisses the sheet. The glossary names the sheet. * feat(ui): give tooltips and the context window sheet accessible roles Tooltip content is role=tooltip, and the context window sheet is a dialog named Context window, so assistive tech and tests find them by role. The agent usage message drops its test ID; it is found by its text. * test(usage): reshape the context window and Usage switch specs as journeys The context window spec runs one tooltip journey and one sheet journey per theme, with no layout branches. Its fixture script, meter actions and report builders move to a context-window helper, and it finds the meter, tooltip, sheet and Refresh buttons by role. The theme comes from the system colour scheme. The Usage switch test uses named helpers for the Usage icon and the Summary in sidebar switch. * fix(usage): say an agent's usage request failed instead of showing older reports A failed request keeps whatever reports the query held: those from an earlier open, or those that streamed in before the failure. The context window details showed them as if they were the agent's current usage. The request error now wins over held reports. * test(usage): let a fixture clean up the context window spec's agent The tooltip and sheet tests no longer wrap their steps in try/finally; a spec-local fixture seeds the agent and removes it after the test. * fix(usage): keep a refreshed report when the list it is in finishes Pressing Refresh on one card while another source was still streaming put the pre-refresh report back: the finished list replaced the query's data with the copies the request had fetched when it started. A report now keeps whichever copy was fetched later, both when a streamed copy arrives and when the finished list replaces the streamed one. * fix(usage): show only the login a resumed agent runs under now An agent resumed under another login keeps its ID, so its usage query kept the previous login's reports: reopening the context window showed them while the new login's reports loaded, then both side by side until the request finished. The agent's usage is now dropped as soon as its tooltip or sheet closes, so each open loads the login the agent runs under at that moment. * fix(usage): stop a closed agent usage request from writing reports Closing the context window details cancels the agent's usage request and drops reports still on their way, so reopening after a resume under another login sends a new request instead of joining the old one. |

Sidebar usage shows default percents with logos, and remembers the picked host (#5786)
* fix(app): show default usage windows when no windows are pinned * fix(app): show only percentages in sidebar usage summaries * fix(client): restore usage source logos for released hosts * fix(app): restore the labeled footer line below sidebar items * fix(app): use History's host filter to pick the usage and plugin host The Usage screen, the compact usage sheet and plugin screens used a separate HostSwitcher trigger. They now use HostFilter without "All hosts", as the label manager does, and hide it with one host, as History does. * fix(app): save the usage host pick and show it in the sidebar summary Picking a host on the Usage screen or usage sheet was view state: it reset when the view closed, and the sidebar summary never read it. The pick is now a device-local usage preference. The summary and the screen show the picked host while it is connected, else the active workspace's host, else the first host. The usage fixture answers by request, since the summary and the screen each load reports and only a card's Refresh forces one. * test(app): expect plugin footer rows above the footer bottom line Add project moved to the bottom line with the icons, so footer rows sit above it, spanning Add project to Settings. * test(app): expect the saved usage host in stored settings * test(app): let usage settings specs share reports with the sidebar summary The sidebar summary loads reports on app start, so the settings specs answer by request instead of by order and read percents from the settings card. |

feat: sidebar header and footer plugin items, Usage in the sidebar footer (#5685)
* refactor(usage): remove agent-to-usage wiring
* feat(plugins): screens, sidebar header and footer items
Plugins register screens with addScreen and contribute component-based
sidebar items with addSidebarHeaderItem and addSidebarFooterItem. Items get
currentScreen, openScreen and openPopover, and render the SidebarRow and
SidebarButton kit. The footer shares the header's ordering model through the
new sidebarFooterItems preference, and Settings > Sidebar gains a Footer card.
addSurface, openSurface and addSidebarItem stay as aliases with their
settings keys and routes.
* refactor(plugins): share resolvePluginPlatform and keep header remembered-host key
Consolidate the five resolvePlatform copies into plugins/platform.ts.
Header sidebar items keep the <pluginId>/sidebar/<id> remembered-host key
so existing users keep their remembered host; footer items use
<pluginId>/sidebar-footer/<id>.
* feat(usage): global usage summary, pins and used/remaining display
- Device-local usage preferences (displayAs, pinned windows) in app settings.
- Sidebar footer usage summary: pinned windows in pin order, one per account;
opens the expanded view as a popover on desktop and a sheet on compact.
- Pin checkboxes on window rows and a used/remaining toggle shared by the
summary, popover, Usage screen and Settings usage section.
- Usage screen shows one host with a selector when several are connected.
- Extract HostSwitcher and the sidebar popover host for reuse.
* fix(usage): render each usage report as its own card
* feat(usage): row pinning, one title row for usage controls, even sidebar footer
- Window rows are the pin toggle (checkbox role, checked state); pinned rows
get a surface2 highlight, unpinned rows an interactionHighlight hover.
- Usage screen, Settings section, popover and sheet put the title left and
the host selector, used/remaining toggle and Refresh right (UsageControls).
PageLayout gains an actions slot; the menu sheet header a trailing slot.
- Sidebar footer rows share 28px height, spacing[1] gaps and one leading rail.
* fix(usage): keep row hover lighter than the pinned highlight
Hovering an unpinned window row shows the pinned surface2 at half opacity on
a separate layer, so it never reads stronger than a pinned row. Pinned rows
do not react to hover.
* fix(app): defer sidebar styles and preserve layout exports in timeline test
* fix(usage): open the Usage screen on desktop, drop the Usage footer icon, match git panel refresh
- Desktop presses on the usage summary open the Usage screen; only compact opens the sheet.
- The Usage footer icon is gone; with nothing pinned the summary renders a plain "Usage" row
in the footer row style. A stored `usage` footer preference is ignored.
- Refresh controls use the Changes panel's icon-only ToolbarButton with RotateCw.
* fix(sidebar): keep the footer icon row fixed; footer items are rows only
The footer's icon row (Hosts, Import session, Help and support, Settings) is back to main's
fixed implementation: not in Settings, not reorderable, and plugins can't add to it.
- Footer items are full-width rows between Add project and the icon row: the usage summary
and plugin `addSidebarFooterItem` rows. The Footer card in Settings lists only those rows.
- Stored `sidebarFooterItems` keys for hosts, import, help and usage are ignored.
- `SidebarButton` is removed from the plugin UI kit; a footer item renders `SidebarRow`.
* refactor(usage): call the sidebar footer item Usage
One concept, one word: the footer item is the Usage item, with key `usage`.
- Settings > Sidebar > Footer lists it as "Usage"; its preference key is `usage`.
- `usage/summary-item.tsx` becomes `usage/sidebar-item.tsx` (`UsageSidebarItem`); both states
use testID `sidebar-usage`.
- `usage/summary.ts` becomes `usage/pinned.ts` (`resolvePinnedUsage`, `PinnedUsageWindow`):
it resolves the pinned windows the item shows.
* feat(plugins): screen params, several rows per sidebar item, SidebarSeparator
openScreen takes { screenId, params }; params live in the screen route's
query so reload, history and links keep them. currentScreen carries the
params. A sidebar item may render a fragment or array of rows; a row press
anchors the popover to that row. SidebarSeparator joins the plugin UI kit.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(plugins): any screen param key; trailing presses anchor the row's popover
Screen params go in the query under a param. prefix, so keys like serverId
no longer collide with the route segments Expo Router merges into search
params. A press anywhere inside a SidebarRow, trailing content included,
makes that row the popover anchor.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(plugins): plugins title their screens
addScreen takes { id, title, Component }. title is a string or a function
of the screen's params; the screen header shows it and follows param
changes. A title function that throws or returns empty falls back to the
screen id. Legacy addSidebarItem screens keep their item's title and icon,
and the addSurface alias titles its screen with the id.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(usage): require discovery and remove unreleased agent resolver
* fix(plugins): restore legacy sidebar rows, share the item runtime, header hint presses its row
- Legacy addSidebarItem rows are their own group kind again: main's row, registered icon in
Settings, /sidebar/<id> route, host remembered per row.
- New-API items follow the host last used on any of the plugin's screens.
- /sidebar/<id> falls back to a same-id screen so pre-migration links resolve.
- params moves to PluginScreenProps; settings screens no longer receive it.
- Sidebar items, buttons and popovers share one runtime per installation, so no empty first frame.
- A header row's hint slot presses the row; labels wrap as on main.
- Skill and docs corrected.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(usage): one host resolver, sheet reuses the screen's controls, name the host
- The Usage row and screen default to the same host.
- The compact sheet carries the screen's controls, host selector included.
- The host selector shows with one host, and unavailable messages name the host.
- The row, sheet title and pinned label use the sidebar.footer.usage translation.

* fix(plugins): popovers, header buttons and composer pills own their runtime again
Only sidebar item rows use the installation's shared runtime. Popover content
disposes its runtime on unmount, so observations close with the popover.
* fix(plugins): a sidebar item releases its subscriptions when it unmounts
Each mounted sidebar item gets its own API scope over the host's client, created
during render so its first frame has content. The scope closes a microtask after
unmount (StrictMode's remount keeps it), when the item moves to another host, or
when the installation stops. Replaces the installation-wide shared runtime.
* refactor(plugins): one Paseo client per plugin; authors own their subscriptions
usePaseo() in every plugin surface, and client.paseo in setup, is the
installation's client, created with the installation in the registry. Authors
release their subscriptions in their own cleanup; plugin teardown disposes the
client and ends the rest. Nothing is created or disposed per mounted surface:
the per-surface runtimes, their boundaries, and the per-run Command Center and
slash command APIs are gone.

fix(client): let SDK callers choose what a send does to an active turn (#5605)
PaseoAgentSendOptions was a hand-copied subset of the daemon client's
SendMessageOptions and dropped activeTurnBehavior, so
agents.ref(id).send(text, { activeTurnBehavior: "steer" }) and run() failed
to typecheck even though the value is forwarded to the daemon. The public
type is now the options type send() passes through, so the two cannot
drift again.

Wait for the connection before starting a file upload (#5585)
An upload started while the client was reconnecting, such as right after returning from the Android file picker, queued its request but sent the file frames at once. The frames were dropped and the upload failed with "Connection changed during file upload". The upload now waits on the same connection queue as other requests before it sends anything. feat(usage): usage sources as built-in plugins, following the session's account (#5465)
* feat(server): run internal plugins in-process through the plugin runtime
* fix(server): harden internal plugin startup and boundary checks
* feat(usage): add plugin usage sources and Codex discovery
* fix(usage): share SDK helpers and bound source cache
* feat(usage): migrate usage fetchers to plugin sources
Serve the legacy usage RPC from discovered source reports so older apps retain the same host usage list while new clients use the source registry. Keep credential reads and normalization inside each source.
* refactor(usage): shape sources as fetch functions
Keep the plugin usage API limited to stable report and presentation helpers. Source-local parsers and timeout handling preserve credential and response parity while the cases move alongside each source.
* feat(usage): resolve reports from active session accounts
Resolve source inputs at fetch time so model and credential changes select the account each session spends. Keep the legacy discovered-account RPC for existing clients. Sync OpenCode model events outside foreground turns so usage follows model switches.
* fix usage source discovery and session report parity
* test adapter usage references through daemon RPC
* name usage reference contract across server
* refactor(usage): own usage RPCs and validate session auth
* feat(omp): resolve session usage from active OAuth credential
* fix(omp): match usage source input and valid credential fallback
* test(omp): use upstream credential database schema
* test(omp): verify live session usage references
* fix(usage): declare YAML parser and consolidate credential validation
* feat(app): show usage sources in the composer and a Usage screen
Replace the provider-matched usage in the context ring tooltip with a
composer pill driven by agent.get_usage_report, add a sidebar Usage
screen over usage.list_reports grouped by host, and move the host
settings Usage page to usage.list_reports. Hosts without
features.usageSources show an update message. Source icons come from
the report's catalog SVG. The app no longer calls provider.usage.list.
* fix(usage): declare the Paseo requirement on internal usage-source plugins
A manifest without requirements.paseo targets Paseo before 0.8, so the daemon
refused to start eight of the nine usage sources.
* fix(app): keep host connection statuses live under the React Compiler
The hook read a store version only as a memo trigger (void version); the
compiler dropped it, so pages that mounted before a host came online kept
showing it as connecting.
* fix(app): place the context ring slot before the usage pill
The ring reserves its slot before it has data. With the pill first, the empty
slot sat between the pill and the mic; now it falls in the flexible space.
* refactor(app): extract the settings page layout into PageLayout
Desktop puts the title in the page above a centered column; compact moves it
into a back header. Settings renders the same pixels through it.
* feat(app): lay out the Usage screen like a settings page
The title moves from the header bar into the page on desktop; compact gets the
settings back header, which returns home when the screen was opened by URL.
* refactor(app): drop the unused actions slot from PageLayout
* test(plugin): classify the usage source SDK entry
* fix(usage): preserve platform test contracts
* fix(settings): preserve page title test contract
* feat(usage): identify and cache reports by account ID
Keep report identity stable across input routes and token rotation, and make selective refresh operate on known account reports.
* feat(app): read usage reports through report IDs
Share report data between agent pills and host views while preserving the existing popover interaction for the next UI phase.
* fix(usage): keep account identity aligned with credentials
Read labels from local token claims and use one credential lookup for usage fetches and account identification. Bound cached profile identities across token rotation.
* fix(usage): isolate failure IDs and prune expired reports
Failure reports live outside the account-key namespace, and cache writes discard entries past the five-minute TTL.
* refactor(app): share the compact time-ago prose formatter
Move the tab tooltip's "3m" -> "3m ago" wording into utils/time so the
usage card can reuse it.
* feat(usage): show when each report was fetched
The usage card reads fetchedAt as "Updated 3m ago": a tooltip on the
card header where hover exists (web, desktop), printed in the card
footer on native and compact. Shared by the pill popover and the Usage
screen.
* feat(usage): open the pill popover from cache and refresh on demand
Opening the popover no longer forces a vendor fetch; it shows the cached
report. A Refresh control force-refreshes only this report
(usage.list_reports with its single ID and forceRefresh), shows
Refreshing... while it runs, keeps the previous report visible, and says
"Unable to refresh usage" if the request fails.
* feat(app): let ToolbarButton show a tooltip other than its label
An icon action can now say a status in its tooltip ("Updated 3m ago")
while keeping its label for accessibility.
* feat(usage): refresh a report from its card header
Refresh is an icon button at the right edge of every usage card header,
in the pill popover and on the Usage screen. It force-refreshes only that
report, writes the result to the report's cache and its host list, shows
a spinner and disables itself while pending, and prints "Unable to
refresh usage" in the card on failure. Its tooltip carries the
freshness; without hover the freshness stays in the card footer. The
status indicator sits just left of the button, and the popover's
separate refresh row is gone.
* fix(server): include internal plugin assets in built output
* feat(server): built-in plugins in /plugins (#5544)
* feat(server): load compiled built-in Codex plugin
* test(server): guard built-in plugin loading and installs
* test(server): verify built-in plugins from dist in CI
* refactor(server): migrate remaining usage sources to built-in plugins
* test(server): guard all packaged usage source registrations
* docs: describe usage validation across plugin hosts
* test(ci): include built-in plugins in routing contract
* test(server): import moved Codex usage source
* fix(server): retain ACP updates received with session creation

Make password-protected daemons work across local and remote connections (#5393)
* feat(auth): authenticate daemon clients through hello Give local CLI and desktop clients a per-run credential while remote clients send the host password inside the protocol. Keep relay passwordless admission for this mobile release so existing saved hosts keep working until the follow-up enforcement release. Move password recovery for saved hosts into host settings and keep pairing credentials in the add flow. Include isolated web QA evidence for both flows. * fix(auth): preserve Hub bootstrap and local credential expectations Hub-owned sockets already carry admission; keep their hello handling synchronous through session bootstrap while resolving credentials asynchronously for ordinary sockets. Keep the resolver out of lightweight configuration imports. Update CLI expectations for same-home credentials, let a rejected connection yield to another usable connection, and clear pairing secrets when add-flow targets change. * fix(pairing): retain passwords across edits to the same target Track the last valid pairing host while a URI is edited. This preserves an entered password for whitespace and partial edits but clears it when a different host becomes the target. * test(auth): align local credential checks across platforms Expect the CLI to authenticate through the credential in its selected home, and verify POSIX file modes only where Node exposes them. * feat(app): move host password into a settings row with a modal The host page rendered an always-visible password form above Name on every host. Replace it with a Password row under a Security section below Appearance; tapping it opens a modal with Save and, when a password is saved, Clear. The connection-error callout keeps its guidance and gains a Set password button that opens the same modal. Drop the unused pairing.hostPassword body/reopen/saveError strings. * chore: remove committed QA screenshots QA evidence stays out of the repository; the PR body describes it in words. * feat(app): keep the host password out of the host page The saved password is connection data, entered only when a host is added. A Password setting on the host page reads as the daemon's own password, so the row, modal, and callout button are gone. A rejected host shows the daemon's reason with guidance to remove the host and add it again with the password. useHostMutations no longer exposes setHostPassword; relay imports still set it inside the runtime. * feat(app): show host connection errors in an error alert HostConnectionError renders the existing Alert with the connection error as its title. Auth rejections add the re-add guidance as the description; other errors show the title only. The Overview and Connections pages share it. * style(app): soften alert borders to half-opacity accent * feat(app): size alerts on the button scale Alert takes a size prop (xs/sm/md/lg, default md) whose geometry lives next to the button's in control-geometry: one font size for title and description, the button icon size centered on the first text line, button padding and radius, and a one-line alert as tall as the button of the same size. Consumers pick sm among settings rows, cards, panels, and modals, and md when the alert is the whole page or sheet state. * style(app): roomier, rounder alerts with a tight title block Alert sm padding returns to the original 12/16 and every size is at least borderRadius.xl. Title and description sit a small gap apart with no line height override. The icon slot carries a zero-width text strut in the alert's font so the icon centers on the first line for titled, title-only, and description-only alerts. * refactor(app): align the alert icon with a centered lead row Drop the zero-width strut. The icon and the alert's first text (title, else description) share one row centered on each other; the description and actions sit below, indented by the icon slot width plus gap so they start at the lead text's left edge. * refactor(app): drop the unused Alert icon override |

Find text throughout chat history (#4765)
* feat(app): add pane Find to file source * fix(app): float the pane Find widget and tighten its chrome Find pushed the first lines of the file down, ran 480px wide with 32px ghost buttons, and let the replacement input start left of the query input. Float the CodeMirror top panel out of flow so the widget overlays the top right of the pane, move the disclosure toggle into a gutter that spans both rows so the two fields share a leading rail, put the match count inside the query field, and drop the icon controls to the shared pane-toolbar chrome the file bar above already uses. * fix(app): keep the active match visible and drop the Find button The floating widget covered the active match whenever the match sat under it and the document was too short to scroll clear. CodeMirror's own panel scroll margin cannot reveal a first line, so the file integration now owns placement: the widget renders as an overlay beside the editor, the model measures it against the active match, and flips it to the opposite corner only when the current corner collides. Hysteresis keeps navigation from bouncing the widget between corners. Also removes the standalone Find button shown while Find is closed, per user direction. Cmd/Ctrl+F is the entry point. * fix(app): stop the Find placeholder from hiding Go to line Hiding `.cm-panels` suppressed every CodeMirror panel in the file editor, including the Go to line dialog that Mod-Alt-g opens through the same search keymap. Hide only the inert Find placeholder panel instead, by its own class, and leave the shared panel container alone. * feat(app): find text throughout chat history Discover candidate transcript locations on the daemon, then reuse prompt navigation to load history and verify rendered occurrences on the client. Keep search state inside its own modules without changing timeline or task presentation contracts. * fix(app): show actionable chat search failures Keep transport error details in the search model while showing localized retry guidance. Use named client request options for timeline search. |

ci: simplify and de-flake the test suite (#4868)
* chore(ci): audit packaging costs and repeated test execution Read-only audit: Linux packaging and smokes consume 12-14 minutes; all three CLI shards repeat the 294-test source suite and build the server twice. Preserve the 17 required contexts, move packaging to main, run CLI source tests once, and consolidate repeated E2E setup into journeys. Historical logs and the complete audit were reported outside the repository. * ci: move packaging to main and remove repeated CLI suites PR runners were rebuilding distribution artifacts and executing the entire CLI source suite on all three E2E shards. Keep packaging coverage after merge, let the local E2E runner own its dependency build, and execute source tests once in an existing required check. Root typecheck already validates plugin examples. * test(ci): consolidate journeys and remove repeated startup work Run user journeys with shared setup, retain one Hub CLI contract, and weight the existing Playwright shards using observed costs. Remove implementation-only and ad-hoc measurement checks. Await root-watch closure and publish creation failure commands atomically so teardown and failure injection have completion boundaries. * test(hub): remove incidental observation and speculative shutdown changes Hub control RPCs need a connected client without an agent observation. Preserve the failed-create subscription contract and remove product shutdown changes whose Windows cleanup cause was not reproduced. * fix(client): clear the scheduled retry when a connect attempt opens a transport An explicit connect() during reconnect backoff opened a new transport but left the scheduled retry armed. When it fired on the healthy connection it disposed the transport and reconnected, dropping requests in flight. This is why owned-subscriptions-old-daemon could still fail after #4858 added the explicit reconnect. attemptConnect now owns the rule ensureConnected already applied; the new unit test fails on the old client. * test(e2e): keep the completed-block, font-readiness, and live-page guards inside journeys - agent-stream-ui: the auto-scroll journey anchors on the completed intro block by content and requires its Markdown root to stay the same mounted node while later blocks stream (#1989 guard, reshaped off the tail block). - changes-pane: the code-typography journey holds font loads and requires no diff geometry before they resolve, then applies the font change. - agent-timeline-pagination: the live-output page load runs against a thirty-minute mock stream and gates the release on the running turn, so the status assertion no longer races a ten-second turn. * test(desktop): install the Electron binary once before the unit suite Electron 44 downloads its binary on the first Node require("electron") instead of at npm ci. Vitest workers importing electron-log/main raced that download and extraction (File exists on dist/electron, then "Electron failed to install correctly" in a sibling worker) on both Ubuntu and Windows desktop-tests jobs. Run the package's idempotent install-electron in one process before vitest forks. * ci(desktop-packages): pin actions and smoke packaging-path pull requests Pin checkout, setup-node, and upload-artifact to full commit SHAs. Keep packaging off ordinary PR CI, but run the Linux package smoke on pull requests that touch packages/desktop, nix, or the workflow so a packaging or sandbox regression cannot land on main unchecked. The desktop release workflow already builds and smokes its own artifacts on all platforms. |

Keep open chats current and show reconnection progress (#4863)
* fix(app): keep open chats current and show resume progress Keep open-chat delivery independent of mounted views, freeze hidden chat rendering, and catch up visible chats before hidden ones. Distinguish host reconnection from timeline freshness so cached messages do not silently appear current after resume. * fix(app): prevent sync status from overlapping action errors Share the existing panel toast slot so action errors remain readable during reconnect and catch-up. Verify the interaction and draft retention in the real browser, preserve the tested freeze transition, and refresh the Nix dependency hash for react-freeze. * test(hub): expose complete creation and message retry failures Partial response assertions hid the creation error and allowed duplicate responses with incomplete agent data. Check complete success envelopes, the shared agent snapshot, and null message errors so future failures print the actual error payload. * fix(app): dismiss retained chat menus before freezing An async fork navigates before its closing state commits, so freezing the source chat could leave its portal backdrop blocking the destination. Remove the shared menu surface in the inactive commit before suspension. Keep regression assertions aligned with open-chat subscriptions, per-agent incremental recovery, plugin contribution lifetimes, and rendered image completion. * test(app): expect the reloaded plugin to contribute its pill again A full reload discards the pressed pill with the page, then evaluates the plugin again and its agents snapshot re-adds the pill. The old count-zero assertion only passed on main because the chat was not ready yet when the URL settled; open chats now subscribe from session start, so the pill is rendered by then. * fix(app): suspend hidden chats on web only react-freeze is Suspense with a never-resolving thenable. Suspending a committed subtree hides its host nodes, tears down layout effects, and detaches refs, which changes Fabric ownership of the retained chat. Split the boundary by platform: the web file keeps the two-commit freeze, the native file keeps the chat mounted and live, and the retained-panel signal remains the only thing that stops background work. Restore the mobile-panels rule the branch had rewritten. * fix(creation): never read a receipt while replacing it Admission reads the creation receipt while the runner replaces it atomically. On Windows a rename over a file this process still has open for reading fails with EPERM, and that error marked an otherwise completed creation as failed (#4865). Queue reads and writes per receipt so one owner never overlaps them, and serialize the record when the write is queued because the runner mutates it afterwards. No retry on EPERM: the conflict is removed rather than tolerated. Linux cannot reproduce the rename failure, so the Windows server-tests job (creation/index.test.ts and hub/execution-session.websocket.test.ts) is the verification for this change. |

Remember model selections across workspace creation (#4401)
* fix(providers): remember model selections across workspace creation Keep saved model intent independent of catalogue readiness and use the caller-owned host and directory from the first render. Share discovery through provider-owned keys while preserving execution context. Refresh known workspace catalogues concurrently. Make repeated-creation picker states explicit and seed mode tests from the installed provider catalogue, preserving assertions across Codex versions. * fix(providers): bound discovery independently per provider Settings refresh repairs all remembered targets, which otherwise starts an unbounded number of discoveries. feat(agents): surface provider notifications in the timeline (#3411)
* feat(pi): surface extension notify in the agent timeline Pi extension ctx.ui.notify() messages were dropped or buffered away and never appeared anywhere in Paseo. Emit them as notification timeline items so they show in the agent chat feed, with info/warning/error levels mapped to activity log styling. * fix id * feat(agents): unify timeline notifications Represent Pi and OpenCode notices as one first-class timeline item instead of provider-specific synthetic tool calls. Gate the new wire variant so older strict clients keep working during version drift. * test(omp): update notice expectations --------- Co-authored-by: Mohamed Boudra <boudra.moha@gmail.com> |

Make import session one tap away and make the sheet find your session (#4216)
* feat(app): make import session a first-class entry point * feat(server): improve import session discovery resilience Search up to 500 persisted candidates per provider and isolate listing failures behind eight-second deadlines so healthy results remain usable. Preserve native persisted title precedence while keeping discovery read-only. Parsing now continues through each transcript so native titles and the true last prompt are retained; the old early exit made lastPromptPreview equal firstPromptPreview. A cheap record prefilter avoids JSON.parse for unrelated lines during the full scan. * feat(app): searchable, grouped import session sheet with per-provider errors The sheet now carries a debounced search field gated on the host's importSessionSearch feature, grows its per-provider page on demand (15 -> 45 -> 90 -> 200) instead of capping at the 15 most recent, and groups unscoped rows by folder under the project name the app knows for that directory. Worktrees of one project would otherwise all head up as the same bare name, so a directory below its project root carries the path under that root beside the name. A workspace-scoped sheet says so and offers "Show all sessions". Importing a row from another directory once that is on drops the workspace from the request, which the daemon would otherwise reject, and routes the user to the agent's own workspace rather than opening a dead tab in the current one. That decision lives in resolveImportTarget: a scoped listing is trusted wholesale because the daemon already matched it realpath-aware, which the client cannot. A provider that fails now gets its own error row with a Retry that refetches only that provider, sourced from both a failed request and the daemon's providerErrors. React Query no longer retries these, so the header spinner settles once every provider has answered or given up (#2512). * test(e2e): import session flow with fixture Claude sessions * fix(app): shorten import sheet scope copy so it fits at phone width At 390px the scoped subtitle rendered "Sessions in this wor..." — the label, its action, and the sheet's refresh and close buttons do not share one line at phone width. The label already sits under the sheet title "Import session", so "Sessions in this" was repeating context the header had: it becomes "This workspace" and the action becomes "Show all". The unscoped label still names the host, which nothing else on the sheet does. * refactor(app): flat recency-ordered import list with per-row folder label Grouping by folder buried recency: a busy directory's block of fifteen pushed a two-minute-old session in a quiet directory below the fold, and the axis a user is scanning on is when they last touched the session, not where it lives. The unscoped sheet is now one list in the order aggregateSessionEntries already produces, and each row carries its folder as a muted third line. resolveDirectoryLabel stays — it is what keeps two worktrees of one project apart — and formatDirectoryLabel renders its two parts as the single ellipsised line a row has room for. A scoped sheet lists one directory, so its rows carry no folder line at all. * fix(app): close import sheet before refreshing sessions Provider-list invalidation waited for every active query before the sheet could close. Mark the disabled picker queries stale after close and navigation so reopening refreshes without delaying the imported agent. * fix(server): reuse workspaces for session imports Host-wide imports should join the oldest active workspace for their directory, or restore its archived workspace, instead of minting duplicates. Rollback remains limited to workspace records created by the failed import. * test(e2e): express the import session journey through a helper DSL * test(e2e): align sidebar journeys with import entry point |

feat(sdk): expose a session's commands and full snapshot on the agent handle (#3719)
* feat(sdk): expose a session's own commands on the agent handle `DaemonClient.listCommands` has always been able to ask a running session which slash commands and skills it loaded, but `PaseoAgentHandle` never surfaced it, so SDK and plugin consumers could only see what they could find on disk. Provider built-ins — the ones bundled inside the agent binary rather than installed into a scannable directory — were therefore invisible to them. Add `agent.commands()` as a thin delegation to the existing RPC. Every provider that implements `listCommands` (claude, codex, opencode, acp, omp, pi) answers it, so a consumer no longer needs per-provider filesystem knowledge to enumerate what a session can run. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(sdk): expose the observed agent snapshot on the agent handle The handle mirrored four snapshot fields (workspaceId, cwd, status, id) and hid the rest behind current(). Add getters for capabilities, availableModes, pendingPermissions, activeTurn, lastUsage, lastError, features, runtimeInfo, and archivedAt so callers can read one field without destructuring the whole snapshot and null-checking it. Each reads the last observed snapshot and never fetches, matching the existing getters. null means "not observed yet". feat(workspaces): add workspace labels (#3510)
* feat(app): workspace labels baseline Existing labels implementation, committed as-is as the baseline for the UI redesign. Server, protocol, catalog store and sync are sound; the UI layer is reworked in the commits that follow. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): show workspace labels on the sidebar meta line Labels could be assigned and then appeared nowhere. They now draw as a chip on the workspace meta row, after the host, change request, checks and service, and they can be switched off from the Show submenu like any other item on that line. One palette, not two. `baseColors.workspaceLabel` was ten raw Tailwind 500s spanning a 1.9:1 to 4.5:1 contrast range — the exact set identity-colors.ts was written to replace. Label color is now the identity color of the same name, so a chip, a host badge and a CI check on one row sit in one contrast band. `workspace-labels/colors.ts` and its per-file `labelColorViolet` blocks are gone; `chip.tsx` and `swatch.tsx` are the only places a label color becomes ink. A row resolves its labels against its own host's catalog and nothing else. The cross-host projection answers too, but two hosts may give one name two colors and the merge settles that by target precedence and then alphabetical serverId — a row painted in a color its host never assigned is lying about the one thing the color is for. The meta row's doc comment argued against tinted chrome on that line. The chip is a deliberate exception — everything else there reports state and shares the state colors, a label is a name a person chose — so the comment now says that instead of contradicting the code. Alignment: - The chip is exactly as tall as the line: text at the row's 16pt lineHeight, no vertical padding, so a labelled row is the same height as an unlabelled one. - A label run that opens the line hangs left by the chip's own padding, landing the name on the rail the title above it uses. Mid-line the ground stays in the flow. - The swatch row reaches 44pt through hitSlop growing outward from a 20pt swatch, replacing ten 44pt colored blobs in the manager modal. - The picker's raw `<Plus>`, `<CheckSquare>` and `<Square>` go through withUnistyles with module-level mappings, at the menu's 14pt. Also fixes a bug this change exposed: `SidebarRowItemsSchema` is a strict object, so adding an item without a key there fails the whole settings write and silently loses every other Show toggle with it. A test now covers each item in SIDEBAR_ROW_ITEMS. Phase 1 of the workspace labels redesign. The filter menu, the picker's interaction model and the manager modal's layout are later phases. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): one Labels filter page with tri-state rows Filtering by label cost three levels: Display -> Labels -> Include -> a page of labels, or -> Exclude -> the same page again. It is now one page: every label across every host, one row each, leading with its colour dot. A row cycles off -> include -> exclude -> off. Include is MenuItem's own check; exclude is lucide's X, the check's own pair, at the same 16 in the same trailing slot, so the column does not shift as a row cycles. Exclude also dims the row, because a state you have to identify by its glyph is not one you read at a glance. Unlabelled is a row in the same list, with a hollow ring where the others carry their colour. Match any / all still appears only once two labels are included. Clear is absent, not disabled, when nothing is filtered. Manage labels sits at the bottom below a separator. The whole root row is gone when no host has a label — unless a filter is still active, since the merged catalog only counts online hosts and losing one would otherwise strand a filter that is still hiding workspaces. The page is titled Labels, so its rows stop repeating the word: "Match any", "Match all", "Clear filter". The two Match rows sit directly under the list they qualify and only appear once two labels are included, so the subject is already on screen. All nine locales move together, translated rather than transliterated — Arabic keeps its noun, where "أي" is a determiner that needs one to stay grammatical. SidebarLabelFilter collapses from four collections plus match to one Record<labelKey, "include" | "exclude"> plus match: a tri-state row is one value per label, so include and exclude can no longer disagree about the same name. Unlabelled keys off the empty string, which normalizeWorkspaceLabelName makes unreachable for a real label. toggleSidebarLabelSelection, countSidebarLabelSelections, sidebarLabelSelectionIncludes and deduplicateSidebarLabelNames go with the old shape; setLabelFilter becomes cycleLabelFilter and setLabelMatch, so the store owns its own transitions. No migration: labels are unreleased, so the old persisted shape never shipped, and migrateSidebarViewState already resets on a safeParse failure. The e2e manager step asserted "Red label color" on a swatch that Phase 1 renamed to "Red"; the selector follows the code, and the accessibility.color key behind the old string is deleted from all nine locales as unreferenced. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): assign labels on the menu's own rails The assign picker was a search box, a create row that unfolded an inline form under it, and hand-rolled label rows whose 44x44 checkbox pushed every dot and name off the rail the rows above them sat on. Nothing lined up with anything. Rows are `MenuItem` now: the colour dot in the 16pt leading slot, assignment as the trailing check the engine already draws for a chosen row. Using the engine's row is the alignment fix; there is no second row implementation to keep in step. Every press toggles and the menu stays open — assigning labels is multi-select, so the dual-target model (`source: "row" | "checkbox"`, `shouldCloseWorkspaceLabelPicker`) is gone along with the model's `close` dependency. You leave by dismissing the menu. Search is deleted. Nobody has enough labels to search, and the field was the thing pushing the list down the surface. `workspaceLabels.search` and `createNamed` go with it across all nine locales; `clearSearch` stays because the manager modal still owns a search field (Phase 4's copy, untouched here). `Create label` moves below a separator at the bottom and opens a page that replaces the list: a name field, the swatch row, one commit row. Picking a colour picks a colour — it no longer creates the label. A failed create keeps the draft and shows the error on the page; a successful one creates, assigns, and returns to the list with the row ticked. Both menus share one page definition. `SidebarWorkspaceMenu` and `SidebarWorkspaceContextMenu` each built the same `pages` memo; they now call `useWorkspaceLabelMenuPages`. Menu engine, all of it forced by putting a text input on a menu page: - `MenuTextField` — the form kit's `FormTextInput` carries a screen's geometry and lands its text 4pt inside the labels above it. This one is drawn as a row's own fill, so the box and the text sit on the row's two rails at once. - `MenuPageDefinition.hoverIntent` — a page you type into is not one the pointer opens or dismisses. Without it the create flyout opened on a pointer passing over the row, and threw the draft away when the mouse drifted off it while the hands were on the keyboard. - The sheet keeps `keyboardBehavior="interactive"`, not `extend`. With `enableDynamicSizing` the largest snap point is the content's own height, so a short page did not grow and the keyboard came up over the field. Caught on an iOS simulator, fixed, and re-shot. - `MenuItem` announces `selected` as `aria-checked`. The deleted checkbox said so; a check drawn and never announced would have been an accessibility regression. Tri-state rows (the filter page's exclude) still cannot announce themselves — menu-wide, still Phase 5's. `sidebar-workspace-row.tsx`'s `isTouchPlatform = platformIsNative || isCompact` is kept deliberately. On a compact web viewport there is no hover, so the row's trailing actions and kebab were unreachable and the labels menu with them; this is the documented `isHovered || isNative || isCompact` shape from CLAUDE.md. Evidence: /tmp/labels-p3-{wide,compact}-{light,dark}-{list,create}.png, the create page on iOS with the keyboard up (/tmp/labels-p3-native-compact-keyboard.png) and the clipped sheet it replaced (-before.png). `packages/app/e2e/browser/workspace-labels.spec.ts` rewritten for the new model, daemon-backed failure coverage kept for both the toggle and the create path, green with the menu unit suites. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): edit a label in one operation `workspace.label.rename.request` and `workspace.label.recolor.request` become one `workspace.label.update.request { name, newName?, color? }`. Both old RPCs are deleted outright — no COMPAT shim, because the labels feature is unreleased and neither name has ever been on a wire a user owns. The `workspaceLabels` capability flag stays; that one is how a new app detects an old daemon. Two calls could land half-applied, which left the catalog in a state nobody asked for and the UI with nothing true to say. One catalog commit now applies the name, the colour, or both. Renaming onto a name the host already has is rejected rather than merged, and the check runs inside the planner so a refused collision applies neither field. A label keeping its own key is not colliding with itself, so case-only edits pass. The manager modal follows: - The host selector is `HostFilter`, the pill History and Schedules use. `includeAllHost` is now a prop: a surface that edits one host's catalog cannot carry out "all". - Search moves to the sheet header, where it spans the header's own rails. As a body control it capped at the component's 420pt and left a hole on the right whenever a host filter wasn't beside it. `workspaceLabels.clearSearch` goes with the box that had a clear button. - A row no longer opens an editor. It carries a pencil in its trailing slot, hover-revealed on web and always visible on native and compact, on the canonical plain-View hover pattern with the press on an inner Pressable. - The edit view is a name field, the swatch row, and one Save that issues one update. Delete keeps its confirm and its affected-workspace count, and moves to `outline` — red belongs to the dialog, not to the surface that opens it. - Copy says edit, never rename or recolor, in all nine locales. `workspaceLabelErrorMessage` drops the `requestType=… code=…` the daemon client appends to every RPC failure. That is what a log wants, not what a user reads under a name field. `workspaceLabels.accessibility.color` stays deleted: the swatch's accessible name is already the colour's name, so nothing needed it back. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * chore(app): converge the labels phases The sweep at the end of the labels redesign: the three items earlier phases found and kept out of their own commits, one cross-phase pass, and the docs. `AdaptiveModalSheet`'s close button reaches its target with `hitSlop` instead of `padding`, which had inset its glyph 8pt from the rail the title, the search field and every trailing glyph below it sit on. This is shared chrome, so it moves the close glyph in every sheet in the app; measured on four of them across both paths — the labels manager desktop and compact, the shortcuts dialog, the rename sheet — and each one's trailing rail now agrees with its leading one. `MenuItem` takes `selected: boolean | "mixed"`. A tri-state row was silent to a screen reader: the check announced itself after the last phase, but exclude had no state at all, so an excluded label was indistinguishable from an untouched one. `"mixed"` is ARIA's own third state, the engine still draws the check only for `true`, and the row keeps supplying its own trailing mark — nothing in the menu engine learns what a label is. CLAUDE.md's platform-gating rules said "NEVER use `onPointerEnter`/ `onPointerLeave`", which is the opposite of what `docs/hover.md` and `constants/platform.ts` both mandate. It now names the real rule — hover on a plain `View`, press on a separate inner `Pressable`, and no `onHoverIn`/ `onHoverOut` on a `Pressable` that contains other pressables — and links the doc that owns it rather than restating it. The cross-phase pass turned up one real defect: the replica cache never learned about labels. `StoredWorkspaceSchema` had no `labels`, so a restored workspace came back unlabelled, and since the directory cursor is current on reconnect the daemon has nothing newer to send — the chips stayed gone for the whole session and the filter matched nothing. An optional field, a serializer line, and an assertion in the restore spec. Everything else measured onto its rails already. Left alone and logged: the per-row `Map` in `useWorkspaceLabelDefinitions`, and the display menu closing when the sidebar swaps to its empty state, which is confined to that swap and predates every phase here. `docs/architecture.md` and `docs/data-model.md` described rename and recolor; they now describe the one update commit, which fields it rewrites, and the per-host resolution a row's chips use. `docs/menus.md` documents the third item state where it already documents the other two. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): split the labels filter into include and exclude controls The Labels page rotated one row through off -> include -> exclude -> off, which billed the rare operation to the common one: clearing an include cost two presses and routed through exclude, so the sidebar visibly re-filtered into a state nobody asked for on the way out. The row now owns include and a control on its trailing rail owns exclude. Each is one press each way and neither is reached through the other. `cycleLabelFilter` becomes `toggleLabelInclude` and `toggleLabelExclude`; the store's map shape is unchanged, and setting either state clears the other for that label, so including an excluded row is still one press. A row is never both, so the trailing rail holds exactly one 16pt glyph in every state: the check, a permanent `X`, or the same `X` revealed on hover. `X` rather than a circle-slash for the reason Phase 2 settled it — `Ban` fills its box where the check does not, and the column twitches. The control fades rather than mounts and takes its 44pt target from `hitSlop`, so neither revealing it nor changing state moves anything: measured 453-469 on every row, wide and compact. The control carries a tooltip, gated to web where hover exists. It portals into the overlay root above the flyout with no backdrop of its own, and resting on it does not read as the pointer leaving the surface, so the menu stays up. Accessibility: the control is a `checkbox` named "Exclude {label}" with its own checked state, and it stays in the tree at opacity 0 on rows that have no visible mark, so it is reachable without hover. Keyboard focus reveals it, so tabbing to it never means pressing something invisible. The row keeps Phase 5's `selected="mixed"` for exclude. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): put include and exclude on their own rails on every label row Phase 6 gave the row include and its trailing rail a hover-revealed exclude. The rotation was gone but the awkwardness was not: `X` is the glyph this app dismisses things with, so on a filter row it reads as delete rather than exclude, and one rail with a changing occupant still means the row's trailing area keeps changing identity as you read down the column. Both controls are now on every row in fixed positions, and state is which one is lit. Nothing appears, disappears, swaps places or shifts: the check box is 429-445 and the ban box 453-469 on an included row, an excluded row and an untouched one alike, wide and compact. Because the ban is always there, include -> exclude is one press instead of two. The row still includes, and the check is that same action named. `Ban` rather than `X`. Phase 2 rejected it because its ink fills its 16pt box where a check's does not, so the column twitched when the two swapped on one rail. Nothing swaps here, so what is left is a weight difference: the ban is drawn at 14 inside a 16pt box, which is the visible optical correction available before it stops being a glyph. The box is what the rail is measured from and it stays 16. Lit is `foreground`, unlit `foregroundExtraMuted`. Not `foregroundMuted`, which is the obvious choice and is wrong here specifically: the Match rows further down the same page carry `MenuItem`'s own check in that colour to mean *selected*, so an unlit check in the same ink would say the opposite thing eight pixels above it. Excluded keeps Phase 2's dimmed row. Accessibility: the row keeps `selected` — `true` include, `"mixed"` exclude — and the two buttons carry no checked state of their own, so a label's state is announced once and its two controls read as the actions they are. Both buttons take a tooltip, gated to web with `enabledOnDesktop={isWeb}`, because on non-compact native `TooltipContent` falls back to a `Modal` with its own backdrop. Deleted with it: the `isHovered || isFocused || isNative || isCompact` reveal, the `opacity: 0` mounting, the hover-tracking `View` and the focus plumbing that existed to keep an invisible control reachable. Net -7 lines of code on this row, all of the growth in comments. The store is unchanged; both buttons and the row press map onto `toggleLabelInclude` / `toggleLabelExclude` as they are. The e2e's hover-reveal and `toHaveCount(0)` steps encoded the deleted behaviour and are replaced by a rail measurement taken in every state — relative to the row, since filtering moves the anchor the menu hangs off, and behind a settle poll, since the flyout scales in and a box read mid-animation is not a rail. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): reveal the label filter's controls, and stop the empty state closing the menu Phase 7 put the check and the ban on every label row at all times, which made a resting list of labels read as two columns of buttons with a filter somewhere behind them. A row now shows its own state and nothing else — a marked row its mark, an untouched row nothing — and hovering any row brings both controls up, the mark you have lit and the other one unlit beside it. So the column you read down is the filter, and the row you are pointing at is the one offering to change it. Nothing about the rails changed. The two boxes are laid out in every state and only their ink comes and goes: check 429-445, ban 453-469 on an included row, an excluded row, an untouched one, hovered or not, wide and compact. The reveal is opacity, never mounting, so it cannot move the row out from under the pointer that fired it. Hover is tracked on a plain `View` wrapping the `MenuItem` with the presses on the buttons inside it, since `MenuItem` is itself a `Pressable` (docs/hover.md); each control counts its own keyboard focus as revealed, so tabbing to one never means pressing something invisible; and `pointerEvents` follows visibility so a hidden control cannot be clicked. On native and compact there is no pointer, so both simply stand there. Everything Phase 7 settled is kept: `Ban` at 14 in a 16pt box, `foregroundExtraMuted` for unlit against `foregroundMuted` meaning *selected* eight pixels below, `spacing[2]` between the two with `hitSlop` tiling the gap, the row owning `aria-checked` while the buttons stay plain named actions, and both tooltips gated `enabledOnDesktop={isWeb}`. --- Excluding a label that empties the sidebar closed the display menu. Logged since Phase 2, narrowed in Phase 5 to the empty-state swap, owned by nobody. `SidebarLabelFilterEmptyState` was a component rendered *instead of* the list, with its own container and scroll view, and both branches were handed the same header element. Different subtrees, so React unmounted the header on the swap — and the header holds the display menu's trigger, so the popover went with its anchor. The empty state is now a body: both list modes render it where their groups would go, inside the scroll they already own and below the header they already render, and the swap can no longer reach anything above it. Cleared from that same still-open page, the way back out is the swap in reverse and it holds too. `ProjectModeList` was already the right shape — its "no projects yet" body sits below the header — but its header was conditional on `unpinnedProjects.length > 0 || hasActiveHostFilter`, which is the same bug written as a guard: keep the header when there is a filter to undo. The label filter joins that condition rather than getting a second mechanism. Both empty states move into `sidebar/empty-states.tsx` so the two list modes can render either without importing each other, which also leaves the card's geometry defined once instead of once per body. Still conditional, and left alone: a sidebar with no projects and no filter has no header at all, so clearing the last host filter on an empty sidebar closes the menu the same way. That one is the onboarding empty state, where a section heading over "Add a project" would be a heading over nothing, and no menu is reachable in the state it lands in. The e2e gets the step that would have caught this: exclude into the empty state, assert the page you pressed on is still up, clear from it, assert the same. Verified by reverting both list files to Phase 7 and watching it fail on "element(s) not found". Phase 7's rail assertions are kept as they are — offsets within the row, behind a settle poll — and joined by computed-opacity reads for the four states of the reveal. Evidence: /tmp/labels-qa-p8/, 28 shots plus INDEX.md — the resting list, a hovered row, an included row with the pointer away, and the empty state with the menu still open over it, at wide and compact in both schemes. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * feat(app): make the label filter include-only Phases 2, 6, 7 and 8 each tried to give exclusion a comfortable shape inside a 232pt menu row: tri-state rotation, a hover-revealed control, two permanent buttons, two hover-or-lit buttons. Every fix bought a new awkwardness, because two controls in one menu row is a lot of machinery for a filter. The label filter is now the host filter — one tap in, one tap out — and nobody has ever complained about that one. A row is a plain `MenuItem` with the colour dot leading and the engine's own check trailing. Nothing else. Which makes the alignment law trivial to satisfy, and that is the point. Deleted rather than disabled, since 6, 7 and 8 are in the branch history if exclusion ever comes back: both trailing controls, the hover-tracking `View`, the `opacity: 0` mounting, the focus/blur plumbing, the `pointerEvents` gating, both tooltips and their `enabledOnDesktop={isWeb}` gates, the lit/unlit token pair, `Ban`, and the two rails they held. `SidebarLabelFilter` collapses onto the shape of `hostFilters` sitting three fields above it in the same store: `labels: string[]` plus `match`, one `toggleLabelFilter`, one `clearLabelFilter`. The exclude arm of `filterWorkspacesByLabels` goes with it, and `filter.include` / `includeLabel` / `exclude` / `excludeLabel` leave all nine locales. Persisted version 4 with no migration — the record shape never shipped, and `createValidatedPersistStorage` drops state that fails the current schema before `migrate` ever runs. Two things this leaves unused, both deleted: - `MenuItem`'s `selected: boolean | "mixed"`, added in Phase 5 so a tri-state row could announce itself. The filter row was the only caller, so the union collapses back to `boolean` and the two `selected === true` guards that existed for `"mixed"` go back to plain truthiness. - The `docs/menus.md` paragraphs from Phases 7 and 8 on hover-revealing a pressable trailing control inside a menu row. No caller does that any more, so the doc was describing a pattern the codebase no longer has. Kept: `SIDEBAR_UNLABELLED_LABEL_KEY`, because `Unlabelled` is still a row and now includes like any other; `Match any` / `Match all`, because multi-select include still means two different things. Phase 8's empty-state fix is untouched and still holds — `hasActiveSidebarLabelFilter` is what the header's survival condition reads, and it answers the same question against the new shape. Evidence: /tmp/labels-qa-p9/, 12 shots plus INDEX.md — resting, two selected, and the empty state with the menu still open over it, at wide and compact in both schemes. Co-authored-by: Christoph Leiter <christoph@leiter.io> * fix(app): give label-grouped rows their project icons, and label groups a tag Grouping the sidebar by label rendered every workspace row with its placeholder initial. The same workspace under status or project grouping showed its real project icon. The components were reused; the data feeding them was not. One component served both grouping modes and threaded the icon map through correctly. Fourteen lines above it, a second `useProjectIcons` call was gated on `groupMode === "status"`, written when status was the only mode that put icons on rows. Phase 2 extended the render branch to `status || label` and left the gate alone. Nothing forces a render branch and the data it renders to agree, and these two were far enough apart to drift in silence. Reuse buys you one implementation of the drawing; it buys you nothing about who decides what to fetch. So the fix is the shape, not the line. There is now one `useProjectIcons` call for every mode, and its targets come from `buildSidebarProjection` — the same function that produced the rows, from the same `projects` list. A mode can only render a row for a project the projection already knows about, so the map cannot disagree with the screen. The gate is gone rather than extended: extending it would leave the identical trap for the next grouping mode. `useProjectIcons` dedupes by `serverId:projectId` and caches through `useQueries`, so the gate was a premature optimization that bought a bug. Pinned by `sidebar-projection.test.ts`: for each of the three modes, every project view key the projection will render — pinned rows, grouped rows, project headers and the rows under them — has an icon target. Red on the old gate: restoring `groupMode === "status" ? … : []` in its new home fails project and label grouping with `['project', 'other-project']` uncovered, and status passes, which is exactly the bug's signature. The sibling sweep over everything `SidebarStatusModeWrapper` is handed found one more of the same shape, correct today: the projection chose its shortcut sections with `status || label`, so a fourth mode would have silently walked the project rows. Both the groups and the sections now come from one exhaustive `switch` on the mode, which makes the next mode a compile error rather than an empty list. `workspaceEntriesByKey` is already written the safe way round (`!== "project"`), and the rest — host badges, pinning support, the empty-filter state — never read the mode at all. Two names moved with the shape: `SidebarStatusModeWrapper` is `SidebarGroupedModeList`, and its branch is `groupMode !== "project"`, so a new mode lands in the grouped list instead of the project list's `else`. Also: label group headers draw lucide `Tag` instead of `CircleDot`, in the label's colour, muted for `Unlabelled` — the glyph the Labels menu and the workspace menu already use for this feature. It keeps `StatusGroupIcon`'s 14 with no optical nudge, and that is measured rather than assumed: in the header's leading slot both ink a 14x14 box at the same offset, and the tag lays down 76 ink pixels to the circle's 84, so reaching the corners of its box costs it no weight beside the status glyphs. QA: /tmp/labels-qa-p10/ — wide and compact, light and dark, label grouping and the same workspaces under status grouping, plus the hover chevron swap, the glyph zooms, and a before/after pair taken with the fix reverted to the bug's shape. Manage orchestration skills per host (#3451)
* feat(skills): manage orchestration skills per host Agent skills execute on the daemon host, so their bundle, selection, and filesystem convergence must share that owner. Preserve the existing install semantics while letting every capable client manage the selected host and migrating the legacy desktop preference once. * fix(client): keep skill management internal Keep host skill management on the low-level daemon client used by the app. Do not expose daemon settings or the desktop-only compatibility migration through the shared Paseo API handed to plugins. * fix(e2e): declare skills fixture dependencies Use Playwright's required destructuring form for the test-scoped daemon sandbox fixture so CI can collect the real-host skills suite. * test(skills): use native managed paths Assert fixed skill targets relative to the daemon user's real home with platform-native path joining so the ownership contract holds on Windows and POSIX hosts. |

Let plugins add contextual workspace tools (#3465)
* feat(plugins): add workspace panels and command center contributions Give local plugins contextual UI entry points without making the daemon interpret client placement or callbacks. Panels receive stable IDs and read cached client state through required selectors with shallow equality, avoiding unrelated guest rerenders and context-discovery RPCs. * fix(plugins): align shared client state ownership Workspace panels and Command Center callbacks consume the same frozen client snapshots, so their adapter belongs to the plugin boundary rather than either contribution surface. Refresh the Nix dependency hash for the selector-store dependency added by this feature. |
