perf(plugins): reuse verified bundles and fix repeated timeline preparation (#8040)
Reuse verified host-scoped plugin bundles across client launches and reconstruct complete catalogs when unchanged code is omitted. Keep store ownership on the connected client, including adopted bootstrap clients, and persist in the background with bounded writes. Remove catalog catch-up deferral and fix repeated timeline preparation that promoted cached completed history into a live head. This preserves completed plugin-rendered chat when catalog installation precedes timeline catch-up. Carries forward #6732 on an upstream branch, with the original hash/cache contribution and integration attribution preserved. Choose voice providers and local speech models from a Voice settings page (#7295)
* feat(voice): add a Voice settings page with provider choice and a local model catalog Each host gets a Voice page under host settings. Dictation and voice mode each pick a provider (Local or OpenAI) and a model. Provider settings sit in one group of collapsible rows: local speech-to-text and text-to-speech list every catalog model with its size, languages and description before download, and OpenAI takes a write-only API key and an optional base URL. The local catalog grows from Parakeet/Kokoro to Whisper, SenseVoice, Dolphin, GigaAM, Parakeet Japanese, multilingual Kokoro, Kitten and Piper voices. Each entry declares its sherpa engine family, so the recognizer and TTS build the matching model config and the downloader verifies the files that family needs. Kitten v0.8 is left out: it crashes the pinned sherpa-onnx 1.12.28. Voice mode is now opt-in. The default lived only in code (true), never in config.json, so hosts that never toggled it find it off after upgrading. OpenAI speech-to-text resolved one model for both features, with voice mode's choice taking precedence, so dictation silently used voice mode's model. The resolved config now carries a model per feature; STT_MODEL still overrides both. Rows revealed under a collapsible settings row are a nested density level set by the container: tighter padding, smaller text, and xs controls, with controls taking their size from the row instead of each caller. * test(app): pre-bundle the JSX dev runtime for browser tests Compiling test JSX with the automatic runtime imports react/jsx-dev-runtime. Vite discovered it mid-run on a cold cache and reloaded the page, which failed the first browser test file to import it. * refactor(voice): keep speech provider settings at each use site Store credentials and endpoint options beside the speech feature that consumes them so saved page values cannot be shadowed by a separate provider block. Normalize existing config on load and mirror the inline shape on config reads and patches. This is the config, resolver and wire phase; the provider sheet follows separately. * fix(voice): preserve saved keys when resaving provider settings Forms send the selected provider on each save but cannot read back its API key. Merge patches for the existing provider so these saves retain credentials; replace the site only when the provider changes. * feat(voice): configure each speech use site from a provider sheet The Voice page now lists Speech-to-text, Listening and Speaking as one-line summaries. Tapping one opens a sheet with the provider choice and only that provider's settings: the local catalog (size, languages and description before download, download state per model) or the OpenAI key, base URL, model and language or voice. The sheet's form model sends only the fields the user changed, so re-saving never clears a saved key. Fields an env var decides are read-only with a "Set by" hint; the API key and base URL stay editable because a saved value wins over the env fallback. Save failures show a toast and keep the sheet open with the input. E2E daemons pin speech providers through env vars to avoid model downloads, so the browser spec covers the locked-provider path, the key fallback and the failed save; provider switching is covered by the form model tests. * refactor(voice): press settings and catalog rows through PressHighlight Settings rows that lead somewhere and local model rows now use the standard row press primitive, so native shows the finger-down flash the rest of the app's rows have. Web hover and press styling are unchanged. * fix(voice): preserve STT language for local providers Language belongs to every STT use site. Preserve legacy local language settings through config loading and saving, resolve them without provider gating, and expose them in the provider form. |

fix(app): open notification agents once in their current workspace (#7612)
* fix(app): open notification agents once in their current workspace Keep tap ownership across Activity and React remounts, clear native responses, and resolve agent workspaces through existing navigation after startup settles. Co-authored-by: Kassam Khoja <kassam@shopwrk.com> * fix(app): hydrate agent targets with the compact sidebar closed Hold directory demand for the agent route while resolving its workspace; the compact sidebar does not supply demand before it opens. * fix(app): keep deferred workspace opens in the layout model Key pending tab opens by workspace so redirects and retained screens cannot lose or consume another workspace's target. Legacy open URLs seed this state at their route boundary. * docs(app): document notification tap ownership and native replay * fix(ci): route feature-owned Electron sources to desktop checks * refactor(app): separate notification API from React integration * fix(app): consume pending opens before painting the restored tab A legacy open link showed the previously focused terminal for a frame before switching to the requested terminal. Seed and consume the pending open in layout effects so a ready target switches before paint. * fix(e2e): focus the visible retained terminal surface --------- Co-authored-by: Kassam Khoja <kassam@shopwrk.com> |

Connect saved hosts and delegate agents across daemons (#7370)
* feat(hosts): connect to saved hosts through a daemon * fix(hosts): validate safe targets and verify encrypted relay routes * test(hosts): include relay coverage in existing CI contracts * fix(cli): preserve validated addresses in daemon command hints * fix(hosts): share daemon links across isolated routed sessions Multiplex logical sessions over the monitored daemon connection and wrap original binary bytes in routing headers. Admit channels under their authenticated parent and current grants; preserve scoped delivery and physical send completion. * fix(hosts): bound encrypted overload and initial acquisition Check encrypted wire capacity before the async channel converts a resource limit into a physical connection error. Bound initial routed acquisition with the existing client timeout, then enable reconnect after admission. * fix(hosts): keep compact row actions clear of host labels Give compact connected-host rows separate text and action widths so long names and producer labels cannot compete with primary controls. * refactor(hosts): remove management settings UI from phase one Keep connected-host management in the CLI and shared SDK while preserving app saved connections and plugin access. * test(hosts): control physical write backpressure across platforms Hold real TCP writes until assertions finish instead of assuming a paused receiver exhausts every platform receive buffer. Preserve physical send settlement, byte identity, capacity and sibling checks. * refactor(hosts): use the ordinary client contract over channel transports Keep queuing, permission codes and reconnection independent of transport selection. Track submitted request outcomes generically while retaining connection error codes and structured causes. * test(e2e): keep transient developer toasts from stalling checks Concurrent locator handlers can wait for a dismiss button another handler removed. Dismiss existing toast DOM at document lifetime, including its open shadow root, without intercepting app actions. * Create, prompt, and monitor agents across connected hosts (#7507) * feat(hosts): delegate agents across connected hosts Resolve MCP host operations through in-process commands for self and the existing routed client transport for other destinations. Keep ordinary parent labels, app sessions and idle finish notifications. * test(app): normalize subagent fixtures through snapshots * docs(protocol): clarify same-host parent labels * fix(hosts): resolve subagents through destination sessions A child address identifies its destination regardless of the connection used. Reuse the existing host candidate selection for discovered routes and direct connections, and keep navigation and row actions independent of the parent transport. * fix(hosts): keep routed destinations distinct during discovery A routed candidate names only the origin daemon. Match it within the named destination profile so two destinations discovered through the same origin retain separate identities and connections, including existing saved routes. * feat(hosts): prompt and query agents on selected hosts Extend the existing MCP host operation boundary with prompt, status, activity and list operations. Local calls retain their handlers and notification owner; selected destinations use ordinary client RPCs and the existing idle finish wait. * test(e2e): preserve toast coverage with CSS hiding * docs(hosts): translate connected host references |

Keep setup execution and output owned by the workspace (#7473)
* perf(workspaces): stop duplicating setup output in progress snapshots Keep the required combined log field empty for setup clients, which display per-command output. Preserve concatenation only for legacy agent bootstrap timeline cards whose released renderers still read it directly. * refactor(workspaces): own setup exclusively at the workspace boundary Preserve keyed modern agent worktree creation while retiring legacy placement that selected an agent-owned setup lifecycle. Keep output in per-command workspace snapshots and retain empty strings required by existing wire schemas. * fix(server): avoid duplicate cwd in worktree provisioning request * test(e2e): keep developer toasts out of concurrent app assertions Concurrent layout measurements could invoke the same Playwright locator handler before its first dismissal finished, leaving checks waiting for a removed button. Hide only the Expo toast host through test styling while retaining console error capture. |

feat(plugins): file panels (#7411)
* fix(files): report document MIME types for binary files
File reads now carry the document's MIME type for binary files, so a file panel can
hand the bytes to a viewer that needs the real type (application/pdf).
* feat(plugins): file panels
Plugins contribute file panels with addFilePanel. A file tab hosts the panels that claim the
file: the built-in Markdown, HTML and image panels, plugin panels, and Source, Paseo's editor,
which claims every text file and is always the last candidate. The panel is the tab body;
the bar shows the document's status and a switcher between the file's panels (side by side
up to three, two on a phone, a menu beyond that).
Paseo asks which panel opens a file only when a plugin panel is among several candidates,
once per open, and remembers the answer per extension or exact filename when told to. Open
with in the tab menu and the switcher change the tab's panel; Always use remembers it.
Opening a file at a line switches the tab to Source.
Panels read and write the host's document, so dirty state, autosave and conflicts stay
Paseo's. DocumentFrame shows bytes documents such as PDFs in the browser's viewer.
Replaces the file tab's Preview/Source mode toggle.
* feat(file-panels): choose and forget file panels in Settings > Files
Settings > Files lists each extension or filename where a plugin panel competes with
another candidate, or that has a remembered panel. Each row chooses the panel that opens
it, or Ask every time; Ask again forgets the choice. Source appears as a candidate for
text files. Panels no connected host offers can be forgotten but not chosen.
* docs(plugins): file panel examples and author reference
Adds the pdf-panel and markdown-panel examples, the File panels section of the plugin
reference, and an e2e spec that installs both examples, opens a PDF in the browser
viewer, and edits Markdown through Paseo's document across the switcher, Source,
autosave and conflicts.
* feat(file-panels): panels read and write through a file handle
The file tab stats the file and mounts its panel without reading it. Every
panel, built-in or plugin, gets a PluginFile handle: readText, readBytes, url,
version-checked writeText/writeBytes (PluginFileConflictError unless force),
and watch. useFileText, useFileBytes and useFileUrl read through it, and
Loading joins @getpaseo/plugin/client/ui. Panels own their loading state.
The host document pipeline, the explorer preview cache and the preview
lifecycle are deleted. The daemon classifies a file version from a bounded
sniff and writes base64 content as bytes behind fileByteWrites.
A deleted file keeps its panel mounted; a read confirms the deletion first,
so a remove-and-rewrite is not reported as one. Native Source decodes with
builtins and highlights in idle-time slices, the lines around the opening
line first, so a large file no longer blocks the JS thread.
* fix(file-panels): Settings offers Source where the picker does, and review follow-ups
- Settings > Files offers Source on every key except those a built-in panel of
another kind (Image) claims, so a plugin that alone claims a text extension
shows the same choices as the picker.
- Delete the unused isSourceFilePanel.
- The Markdown example warns with the file name when its unmount write fails,
rather than dropping the edit silently.
- Document that PluginFile stat fields are read at render time and that watch
or the read hooks are how a panel learns they changed.
* fix(plugins): file events are objects, deletion is a typed error, DocumentFrame owns its fallback
- watch listeners receive { type: "changed" } | { type: "deleted" }, so later
versions can add fields without breaking them.
- PluginFileDeletedError joins PluginFileConflictError. The read hooks report a
deleted file with it, and a write over a deleted file rejects with it; Source
shows that as the deleted notice. PluginFileConflictError now means only
"changed on disk".
- DocumentFrame on Android shows Paseo's "<TYPE> files can't be shown on this
device" message for documents its WebView cannot display, so the PDF example
is useFileUrl + Loading + DocumentFrame with no platform branch.
* test(file-panels): Settings offers Source for a remembered panel no host has
* test(e2e): hide the developer error toast instead of clicking it away
The locator handler that dismissed #error-toast could match a toast that closed before its
click, then wait on it until the test timed out (agent-timeline-resume.spec.ts:45 failed every
attempt on this branch). Hiding the toast with CSS keeps it off app actions with no race.
* test(e2e): desktop browser-tabs hides developer toasts on its attached page

Rank Command Center results by match then recency, with highlights, timestamps, and project icons (#7277)
* feat(app): rank, highlight, and timestamp Command Center results
Workspace and agent rows now show when they were last active, rank by
match quality and then recency, mark the query terms in every result
kind, and lead workspaces with their project icon.
Ties used to be broken by where the match landed in the string, so
"Deliver sidebar usage" beat "expose usage data" on sentence position
and recency almost never decided anything. Built-in rows now compare
only which fields matched and the matcher tier, then the most recent
row wins. The empty query follows the same rule, so it lists the most
recent workspaces and agents instead of alphabetical workspaces and
status-first agents.
Row and section heights live in list-metrics: a layout picks one row
inset and every height derives from it plus shared line boxes, which
the styles also read. The layout is chosen once at the top, so rows
never branch on it, and two-line rows are now vertically centered.
Desktop is denser (32/46); compact keeps 44pt touch rows (44/58).
findHighlightRanges takes the matcher's options so the marks match
what the list matched: the Command Center is not typo-tolerant, the
history list is.
* fix(app): keep the project icon out of Command Center row names
The fallback project icon draws the project's initial as text, which
became the first word of the row's accessible name ("C Command Center
..."), so screen readers announced it. The icon is decorative.
The scroll spec now reads the newest seeded workspace: the empty query
lists the most recent workspaces, so the first one seeded is no longer
among them.

feat(app): label Paseo tool calls verb-first with their context (#7283)
Paseo tool rows put the variable part first ("QA messenger finished"), so
truncation hid the fixed part, and MCP calls showed only the humanized tool
name with no context. Every Paseo tool now has one catalog entry in
protocol/paseo-tool-presentation owning its fixed label, the input field
shown as context, and its detail layout. Agent-message events read
noun-first ("Agent finished" + sender) and use the Paseo icon; the app
ignored it before because the wire detail's legacy "bot" icon won.
Summaries are capped in code at 120 characters because prompts can be one
enormous line; the renderer is not trusted to clip them.
The activity curator behind `paseo logs` and get_agent_activity printed a
bare "[Agent message]" because the server tool-call type never declared the
agentMessage field the projection sets; it now prints the event, sender,
and body.

Hold the real PNG response after reload until the reading position settles, then verify its reserved height and viewport instead of attributing initial bottom-follow positioning to image decoding. * fix(markdown): preserve adjacency around inline HTML * fix(markdown): keep summary block boundaries outside bold text * perf(markdown): scan HTML block boundaries incrementally * test(markdown): gate delivery while establishing a held reader * test(markdown): name shared renderer setup and file actions * test(markdown): assert linear HTML boundary work without timing * test(markdown): check large HTML table output without observing built-ins * fix(markdown): restore accentBright link colour * fix(markdown): require letters and known extensions in bare path recognition * fix(markdown): match main's blockquote, bullet and h6 colours * fix(android): keep inverted chat still during text selection React Native decomposes Android list inversion into a 180-degree rotation with positive scaleY, so the existing visibility-scroll guard never recognized the inverted viewport. Inspect the composed matrix and reproduce the actual list transform through the native view manager in regression tests. * fix(markdown): linked inline code keeps inline code size * fix(markdown): reserve a placeholder box with an image glyph while images load * fix(markdown): bare prose paths need an extension, line suffix or depth Slash-separated English pairs were recognized as file links in prose. Require stronger path intent there while preserving the existing inline-code recognition rule. * fix(markdown): horizontal blocks own their drags on compact layouts * perf(markdown): keep native streaming updates in the unfinished tail Native markdown reparses each updated view in full. Keep parser-closed blocks in a memoized head during paced reveal, then reunite completed prose for cross-paragraph selection. Preserve trailing spacing and source indentation at the split. * perf(markdown): reuse Android measurements across view mounts * test(markdown): bare Fabel/model and daemon/client stay plain text when copied |

feat(app): let users set the chat and Markdown content width (#5680)
* feat(app): let users set the chat and Markdown content width Wide and ultrawide screens were stuck with an 820px reading column. The width is now an Appearance setting that flows through the Unistyles theme, like the font sizes, so every content surface picks it up. The stored value stays null until the user picks a width, so a future change to the default reaches everyone who never customized it. Reset writes null back. The native composer dock keeps plain React Native styles and takes the width inline because those styles land on Reanimated views, where theme-driven Unistyles crash on theme changes. * fix(app): pass the content width into the web stream viewport The viewport read app settings itself, which required a QueryClient in every render of the stream strategy. The agent stream view already reads settings, so it hands the width over with the rest of the render input. |

Keep relative timestamps current in agent, schedule, and import-session rows (#5340)

Keep the plugin usage API limited to stable report and presentation helpers. Source-local parsers and timeout handling preserve credential and response parity while the cases move alongside each source.
* feat(usage): resolve reports from active session accounts
Resolve source inputs at fetch time so model and credential changes select the account each session spends. Keep the legacy discovered-account RPC for existing clients. Sync OpenCode model events outside foreground turns so usage follows model switches.
* fix usage source discovery and session report parity
* test adapter usage references through daemon RPC
* name usage reference contract across server
* refactor(usage): own usage RPCs and validate session auth
* feat(omp): resolve session usage from active OAuth credential
* fix(omp): match usage source input and valid credential fallback
* test(omp): use upstream credential database schema
* test(omp): verify live session usage references
* fix(usage): declare YAML parser and consolidate credential validation
* feat(app): show usage sources in the composer and a Usage screen
Replace the provider-matched usage in the context ring tooltip with a
composer pill driven by agent.get_usage_report, add a sidebar Usage
screen over usage.list_reports grouped by host, and move the host
settings Usage page to usage.list_reports. Hosts without
features.usageSources show an update message. Source icons come from
the report's catalog SVG. The app no longer calls provider.usage.list.
* fix(usage): declare the Paseo requirement on internal usage-source plugins
A manifest without requirements.paseo targets Paseo before 0.8, so the daemon
refused to start eight of the nine usage sources.
* fix(app): keep host connection statuses live under the React Compiler
The hook read a store version only as a memo trigger (void version); the
compiler dropped it, so pages that mounted before a host came online kept
showing it as connecting.
* fix(app): place the context ring slot before the usage pill
The ring reserves its slot before it has data. With the pill first, the empty
slot sat between the pill and the mic; now it falls in the flexible space.
* refactor(app): extract the settings page layout into PageLayout
Desktop puts the title in the page above a centered column; compact moves it
into a back header. Settings renders the same pixels through it.
* feat(app): lay out the Usage screen like a settings page
The title moves from the header bar into the page on desktop; compact gets the
settings back header, which returns home when the screen was opened by URL.
* refactor(app): drop the unused actions slot from PageLayout
* test(plugin): classify the usage source SDK entry
* fix(usage): preserve platform test contracts
* fix(settings): preserve page title test contract
* feat(usage): identify and cache reports by account ID
Keep report identity stable across input routes and token rotation, and make selective refresh operate on known account reports.
* feat(app): read usage reports through report IDs
Share report data between agent pills and host views while preserving the existing popover interaction for the next UI phase.
* fix(usage): keep account identity aligned with credentials
Read labels from local token claims and use one credential lookup for usage fetches and account identification. Bound cached profile identities across token rotation.
* fix(usage): isolate failure IDs and prune expired reports
Failure reports live outside the account-key namespace, and cache writes discard entries past the five-minute TTL.
* refactor(app): share the compact time-ago prose formatter
Move the tab tooltip's "3m" -> "3m ago" wording into utils/time so the
usage card can reuse it.
* feat(usage): show when each report was fetched
The usage card reads fetchedAt as "Updated 3m ago": a tooltip on the
card header where hover exists (web, desktop), printed in the card
footer on native and compact. Shared by the pill popover and the Usage
screen.
* feat(usage): open the pill popover from cache and refresh on demand
Opening the popover no longer forces a vendor fetch; it shows the cached
report. A Refresh control force-refreshes only this report
(usage.list_reports with its single ID and forceRefresh), shows
Refreshing... while it runs, keeps the previous report visible, and says
"Unable to refresh usage" if the request fails.
* feat(app): let ToolbarButton show a tooltip other than its label
An icon action can now say a status in its tooltip ("Updated 3m ago")
while keeping its label for accessibility.
* feat(usage): refresh a report from its card header
Refresh is an icon button at the right edge of every usage card header,
in the pill popover and on the Usage screen. It force-refreshes only that
report, writes the result to the report's cache and its host list, shows
a spinner and disables itself while pending, and prints "Unable to
refresh usage" in the card on failure. Its tooltip carries the
freshness; without hover the freshness stays in the card footer. The
status indicator sits just left of the button, and the popover's
separate refresh row is gone.

Make password-protected daemons work across local and remote connections (#5393)
* feat(auth): authenticate daemon clients through hello Give local CLI and desktop clients a per-run credential while remote clients send the host password inside the protocol. Keep relay passwordless admission for this mobile release so existing saved hosts keep working until the follow-up enforcement release. Move password recovery for saved hosts into host settings and keep pairing credentials in the add flow. Include isolated web QA evidence for both flows. * fix(auth): preserve Hub bootstrap and local credential expectations Hub-owned sockets already carry admission; keep their hello handling synchronous through session bootstrap while resolving credentials asynchronously for ordinary sockets. Keep the resolver out of lightweight configuration imports. Update CLI expectations for same-home credentials, let a rejected connection yield to another usable connection, and clear pairing secrets when add-flow targets change. * fix(pairing): retain passwords across edits to the same target Track the last valid pairing host while a URI is edited. This preserves an entered password for whitespace and partial edits but clears it when a different host becomes the target. * test(auth): align local credential checks across platforms Expect the CLI to authenticate through the credential in its selected home, and verify POSIX file modes only where Node exposes them. * feat(app): move host password into a settings row with a modal The host page rendered an always-visible password form above Name on every host. Replace it with a Password row under a Security section below Appearance; tapping it opens a modal with Save and, when a password is saved, Clear. The connection-error callout keeps its guidance and gains a Set password button that opens the same modal. Drop the unused pairing.hostPassword body/reopen/saveError strings. * chore: remove committed QA screenshots QA evidence stays out of the repository; the PR body describes it in words. * feat(app): keep the host password out of the host page The saved password is connection data, entered only when a host is added. A Password setting on the host page reads as the daemon's own password, so the row, modal, and callout button are gone. A rejected host shows the daemon's reason with guidance to remove the host and add it again with the password. useHostMutations no longer exposes setHostPassword; relay imports still set it inside the runtime. * feat(app): show host connection errors in an error alert HostConnectionError renders the existing Alert with the connection error as its title. Auth rejections add the re-add guidance as the description; other errors show the title only. The Overview and Connections pages share it. * style(app): soften alert borders to half-opacity accent * feat(app): size alerts on the button scale Alert takes a size prop (xs/sm/md/lg, default md) whose geometry lives next to the button's in control-geometry: one font size for title and description, the button icon size centered on the first text line, button padding and radius, and a one-line alert as tall as the button of the same size. Consumers pick sm among settings rows, cards, panels, and modals, and md when the alert is the whole page or sheet state. * style(app): roomier, rounder alerts with a tight title block Alert sm padding returns to the original 12/16 and every size is at least borderRadius.xl. Title and description sit a small gap apart with no line height override. The icon slot carries a zero-width text strut in the alert's font so the icon centers on the first line for titled, title-only, and description-only alerts. * refactor(app): align the alert icon with a centered lead row Drop the zero-width strut. The icon and the alert's first text (title, else description) share one row centered on each other; the description and actions sit below, indented by the icon slot width plus gap so they start at the lead text's left edge. * refactor(app): drop the unused Alert icon override |

Show the date for a message from today's weekday last week (#5341)
A reply sent last Friday at 12:02 PM, read on Friday at 11:47 AM, was labelled "Friday 12:02 PM" because the weekday window counted 24-hour periods, and that reply was just under seven of them old. Count calendar days instead, so the weekday form covers only the previous six days and today's weekday a week back shows its date. Find text in assistant messages that streamed in the open chat (#5146)
* fix(app): find text in assistant messages that streamed in the open chat Chat find failed with the generic "check the host connection" text whenever the oldest hit sat in a response that streamed while the chat was open and had more than one Markdown block. Presentation rendered such a message as one row per block with ids `<messageId>:block:n`, while hydrated history stayed one row with the raw message id, and every message-addressed DOM lookup (find reveal, scroll-to-message, history reveal, the render-cap expansion) only knew the raw id. The reveal step polled for a row that never existed and gave up after five seconds. The defect was the dual rendering, so this removes it: every assistant message is a block group however it arrived, single-paragraph messages included, so a row id is never a message id. Rows carry `data-message-id`, `getStreamItemMessageId` is the one way from a row to its message, and find, scroll-to-message, history reveal and selection copy address messages through it. Chat find force-mounts every row of the selected message under virtualization so counts span the whole message, and pins the chosen occurrence to its row while the scroll settles. Link reference definitions fold into their neighbouring block so history never paints an empty row. Find failures now say what went wrong (connection, history changed, could not show the match) instead of blaming the connection for everything. * fix(app): let the Markdown parser decide which blocks are link definitions A hand-rolled CommonMark regex rejected destinations markdown-it accepts, such as escaped spaces, so those definitions still became their own empty row and the neighbouring paragraph lost its link. The block splitter now parses the block with the same parser: no tokens plus registered references means definitions only. The two new chat find journeys move their mechanics into named helpers so the test bodies read as intent. |

fix(app): use Command+F for Find on macOS across chat, file, and terminal (#5129)
Control+F moves the caret forward on macOS, so chat Find and file pane Find were stealing a keystroke the text editor owns. Chat Find listens on `document` in the capture phase, so the composer received an already-cancelled Control+F and the caret never moved. Each Find surface carried its own copy of the shortcut predicate and only the terminal's was platform-aware. There is now one predicate, `isFindShortcut` in `@/pane-find`, that takes the platform as a parameter: Command without Control on macOS, Control without Command elsewhere, no Shift or Alt. Chat Find, file pane Find, the Find widget's own query box, terminal Find, and the terminal emulator runtime all call it, and `terminal-find-shortcut.ts` is gone. App surfaces source the platform from `findShortcutPlatform()`, which wraps the app's existing `getShortcutOs()`. The predicate stays free of React Native imports because the terminal emulator runtime is bundled on its own into the terminal WebView; its default platform and `getShortcutOs()`'s browser branch now share one user-agent read in `@/utils/mac-user-agent`. Smooth streaming replies with a continuous left-to-right fade (#4859)
* feat(app): reveal streaming text as one continuous fade front Streaming assistant text is released by word and every character fades in over the same 150 ms envelope from a start time owned by the message. Start times never decrease in reading order, so a line paints as a single front moving left to right, however the text is chunked. Per-word envelopes with an internal stagger let the next word's first letter overtake the previous word's last letter, which read as holes and flashing words at the real frame rate; 100 ms frame strips hid it. Native renderers receive the fade ranges as a prop on a host view wrapping the root Text, so ranges and text land in the same Fabric mount transaction. The earlier binding sent ranges through a separate async module call keyed by view tag and had to reconcile them against the view's text; on a fast phone the UI thread lags JS by several commits, mounts and calls interleave, and every reconciliation heuristic guessed wrong. Native code no longer infers newness or creates start times. The mock load-test provider now separates cycles with a blank line so a cycle heading is not appended to the previous paragraph. * fix(ci): refresh streaming dependencies and isolate E2E setup * test(app): distinguish fade cleanup from Markdown replacement * test(app): detect restarted fades during Markdown updates * docs(app): keep streaming guidance focused on constraints and QA * test(app): control animation time in Android fade assertions Fixed wall-clock sleeps let emulator scheduling select the sampled animation frame. Inject the animator time source and drive paint at exact timestamps within one UI-thread operation; production keeps the system clock. Verify the mid-fade sample and the exact cleanup boundary without sleeps, polling, or retries. * fix(test): compile the desktop renderer before lifecycle checks The lifecycle fixture treated Metro /status as app readiness. Its first Settings click therefore spent its 90-second UI budget compiling the cold bundle. An isolated cold-cache run restricted to one CPU reproduced the click timeout before the app runtime had loaded. Reuse the browser suite's existing bundle warmup before launching Electron, and preserve Metro output in the lifecycle artifacts. The UI timeout, build-request timeout, lifecycle assertions and product behavior are unchanged. CI did not preserve Metro output, so its precise startup timing is not recoverable from the failed run. The retained log makes subsequent startup failures diagnosable without relying only on an empty renderer text dump. Validation: three complete lifecycle E2E runs under private Xvfb displays; existing Metro readiness tests; app typecheck; targeted lint; root format. * test(file-observer): await burst delivery through native recovery The deletion phase required every event within 10 seconds, but native coalescing recovery uses a 30-second safety audit followed by the existing reconciliation debounce. An idle diagnostic excludes that delayed audit and therefore cannot act as a completion barrier. Await the required delivered events instead, preserving every deletion assertion and the existing overall test watchdog. A real-filesystem test with controlled native notifications reproduces 95 outstanding paths at the old deadline and verifies completion when the safety audit delivers them. No production observer behavior changes. * test(file-observer): verify burst recovery through public events The controlled-clock regression constructed a private native backend, bypassing the interface used by consumers. Consolidate recovery coverage into the public observer integration test instead: drive real writes, deletes and directory renames, then await every required public event, including the 450 surviving files at their renamed paths. No public capability was added: subscribe callbacks already express completion. No production behavior or test timeout changes. * test(app): drive Android fade tests through the native host The instrumentation suite constructed TailFadeInAnimator directly, advanced its private clock, and counted FadeInSpan instances. It now mounts the WordFadeHost that React mounts, feeds it the ranges prop the bridge sends, and asserts rendered pixels: hidden before a start time, a monotone front inside and across words, settled frames equal to the baseline, and no frame callbacks left after settling. Span counts and internal timing state are no longer asserted. Choreographer cannot be advanced deterministically from a test and the fade epoch is the message's wall-clock start time, so the host takes a WordFadeFrameClock (time plus frame callbacks) as its smallest public seam; production keeps the Choreographer-backed default. Fixture text is sized in pixels so every sample stays on one line at any density; at 420 dpi the 32sp fixture wrapped and the column helper summed glyphs from the first line. |

Restore cached conversations before reconnecting (#4421)
* fix(app): restore cached conversations before reconnecting Give each host one timeline write authority so cache restores, live events and fetched pages publish consistent rows and coverage. Persist a moving 40-entry restart page independently of loaded scrollback, and keep native navigation mounted while startup settings hydrate. * fix(app): recover cache writes after initialization failures Keep accepted writes pending and retry initialization without another UI update. Publish the storage index only after loading succeeds, while queued host identity changes still settle in order. * test(app): wait for sidebar and workspace transitions Viewport intersection and leaving the creation route can precede completed UI transitions. Wait for the layering hit test and selected agent tab before asserting or navigating again. * fix(app): restore provider loading on native clients The native AbortSignal lacks throwIfAborted, so successful provider responses failed before reaching every model selector. Preserve both cancellation boundaries using the supported aborted property and the existing query cancellation error. |

Restore live sessions immediately after app resume (#4160)
* perf(app): restore live sessions immediately after resume Foregrounding now reconnects every host without waiting for scheduled backoff, while cached turns, timelines, agents, and workspaces remain internally consistent until authoritative catch-up arrives. Replica persistence is keyed and incremental so ordinary updates avoid whole-directory serialization. * fix(app): preserve turn ownership through session updates Stream turn closure now wakes queued-message delivery, while same-turn snapshots retain local cancellation state. Offline liveness remains visible until an authoritative close arrives. * fix(app): preserve pending chat cache writes and trim resume refactor Directory baseline replacement must preserve independently accepted timeline changes until the deferred flush. Keep the reconnect and persistence fixes while removing the session-data facade and broad read-hook migration. * fix(app): initialize reconnect policy from current app state Initialize visibility before host bootstrap so a background mount cannot leave reconnect enabled. Seed sidebar fixtures through the workspace owner so cache hydration preserves their rows. * test(app): verify submission settlement across reconnect Keep submission acknowledgement separate from turn liveness: disconnect preserves the running turn until authoritative catch-up. Wait for confirmed running chrome before exercising queued cancellation so the alternate-send shortcut cannot race turn startup. * docs: remove cache implementation recap |

fix(app): render markdown verbatim instead of substituting characters (#3253)
markdown-it's typographer option rewrites characters after parsing, so a literal (c) came out as ©. Agents label steps and options (a), (b), (c) all the time, and an ordinary list rendering as (a), (b), © stops your eye every time. The same option turns ... into an ellipsis, --- into an em dash, and straight quotes into curly ones. Agent output is text people paste back into a shell or a file, so a curly quote in --name="my repo" looks correct on screen and fails when pasted. The markdown file preview had the same problem, showing characters that are not in the file on disk. Every in-app markdown surface now goes through one factory in utils/markdown-parser.ts, which leaves typographer off: agent chat, plan cards, pull request comment bodies and the file preview. The plan card was rendering through its library's built-in parser because it never passed a markdownit prop, and that default has typographer on. Link behaviour is unchanged. The assistant parser keeps its file:// permission and no other surface gains it, and linkify stays on for chat and the default renderer and off for plan cards, matching what each did before. feat(app): find workspaces by PR/MR number in the command center (#3008)
* feat(app): find workspaces by PR/MR number in the command center The command center matched workspaces on title, host, project, and branch. Typing the change-request number you actually remember found nothing, so you had to recall the branch name instead. Workspace results now carry their pull/merge request number, and a numeric query resolves it directly: 42, #42, !42, pr 42, and mr 42 all reach the same workspace. Matching compares the parsed number exactly rather than as a substring, so 42 no longer drags in PR 142 or a branch that happens to contain those digits. Exact number hits sort above ordinary text matches for the same query. Nothing changes visually. The number is a search key only; result rows render exactly as before. The number is read from the pull request the daemon already sends. selectPrHintFromStatus is the fallback only: it derives the number by parsing the PR/MR URL, which yields nothing for a noncanonical or absent URL even when the daemon sent a usable number. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(app): exercise change-request parsing through the matcher parseChangeRequestQuery was exported only so the test could reach it, which made an implementation helper part of the module surface and let the parser cases pass without covering how the parser composes with workspace matching. Unexport it and drive the same spellings through matchWorkspaceQuery. The rejection cases now assert what they actually protect: a query like fix-42-retries must not take the number path, so a workspace whose PR is 42 does not match it. Feat/forge check semantics and followup fixes (#2337)
* feat(protocol): add forge check presentation metadata Expose optional rawStatus, isManual, and requiresAction fields while keeping older check payloads backward-compatible. * fix(gitea): model Actions jobs as tasks Gitea's /actions/tasks endpoint returns individual jobs rather than workflow runs. Preserve sibling tasks from the latest execution, avoid collapsing same-name jobs, and enrich blocked tasks with run-level approval metadata. * feat(app): distinguish forge check presentation states * fix(gitlab): preserve pipeline job semantics * refactor(app): centralize forge check presentation policy Use one canonical category order, count shape, visual policy, and translated copy mapping across sidebar, hover-card, PR-pane, and GitLab pipeline surfaces. * refactor: consolidate forge check handling * feat(forge): auto-attach pasted forge references * docs(compat): correct forge rollout metadata * refactor(forge): model check nuances as traits * fix(forge): harden checks from branch review Structural Gitea Actions shadow dedup by run id (verified upstream), rerun grouping without workflow_id, shared trait/status constants and Gitea state mapping in the protocol package, all cloud host aliases in pasted-link matching, logged glab job-detail failures, concurrent approvals/pipeline fetch, checks aggregate from the same pipeline as the job list, and removal of the unread check-level rawStatus. The released pipeline-level rawStatus is staged for removal under COMPAT(pipelineRawStatus). * fix(gitea): detect fork-PR Actions approval hold as action_required gitea.com represents a fork PR awaiting Actions approval as a run in status "waiting" with no tasks and pending shadow commit statuses; it does not expose need_approval. The previous mapping only set action_required from a task with blocked+need_approval, so the gate never surfaced (0 tasks -> early return; need_approval absent). Detect the hold from /actions/runs: a waiting/blocked run whose PR is cross-repo (head.repo.id != base.repo.id), or one that does expose need_approval (self-hosted). Tag the run's pending shadow statuses action_required. Runs are only fetched when a pending shadow has no covering task, keeping the common path at two requests. Verified live against gitea.com fork PR (run 715170, waiting, cross-repo). * fix(gitea): resolve cross-fork PRs by head sha The current-PR matcher gated candidates on the checkout owner (giteaHeadOwner === expectedHeadOwner), which excludes every fork PR: its head carries the fork owner while the checkout is the base repo, so a fork PR - the only shape that can be approval-held on Gitea - never resolved and its checks never showed in-app. GitLab has no such gate (it resolves fork MRs from the target project by source branch). Accept a recent PR whose head sha equals the workspace head sha regardless of owner; the sha is an unambiguous identity, so the anti-collision owner gate still applies when no sha match is available. Verified live against gitea.com fork PR #6 (resolves + renders action_required). * fix: resolve forge rebase drift * fix: type forge auto-attach boundary * fix(i18n): add Korean check status copy --------- Co-authored-by: Mohamed Boudra <boudra.moha@gmail.com> |

Stream assistant text at a steady rate instead of in arrival lumps (#3612)
* Stream assistant text at a steady rate instead of in arrival lumps Assistant text arrived in lumps and was painted that way. The daemon coalesces one message per 60ms window, and that window carries however many characters the model produced in it, which swings by an order of magnitude within a turn. Painting each delta as it landed made the size of those lumps visible. Three changes: - The agent stream coalescer is now leading + trailing. The first delta after an idle window flushes synchronously instead of waiting a full window, matching the invariant TerminalOutputCoalescer already documents. The window stays at 60ms; shrinking it would raise message rate on a loop that already contends with terminal frames and relay encryption, without making the stream smoother. - The client reducer queue commits on a frame instead of an arbitrary 48ms timer, with the timer kept as a ceiling so a hidden tab still advances. - Assistant and reasoning text are revealed at a rate derived from the backlog rather than from arrival timing. Arrival changes the target, not the rate. The store keeps the full text and only the rendered slice is paced, so copy, selection, the chat outline, and scroll geometry all stay consistent with what is on screen. The leading flush means a burst's first chunk lands as its own timeline row. The projection already merges contiguous same-turn rows and clients read the projected timeline, so history is unchanged; the server tests that assert on raw rows were updated for the extra row. Measured on Expo web against a local dev daemon. Mock bursty-stream provider, 6s samples, paint-on-arrival vs paced: frames that advanced the text 55 -> 244, chars-per-frame CV 2.66 -> 1.44, gap p50 100ms -> 17ms. Real Claude Haiku agent over 52s: 84% of frames advance the text, CV 1.29, gap p50 and p95 both 17ms (one frame at 60Hz). Adds a bursty-stream mock model with seeded burst sizes, a gated browser perf spec, and docs/agent-stream-performance.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Address review: safe reveal boundaries and a testable seam Two findings from the PR review. Unicode boundaries. Slicing the revealed text at an arbitrary index could strand a lone surrogate, which paints as a replacement glyph, or split an emoji ZWJ sequence so a family briefly rendered as its members. Both were visible for a frame or two mid-stream — the exact flicker the paced reveal exists to remove. The rendered cut is now pulled back off surrogate pairs, combining marks, variation selectors, skin tone modifiers, and ZWJ joins. The reveal counter stays monotonic and only the painted boundary moves, so a long cluster cannot stall the reveal. Test placement. The hook test used JSDOM, @testing-library renderHook, and monkey-patched requestAnimationFrame, all of which docs/testing.md rules out; it prescribes fixing the missing seam instead. The reveal policy is now a pure state machine in text-reveal.ts (begin/retarget/advance/ complete/visible) covered by plain unit tests with no environment, and the hook is reduced to the frame-clock binding. Rendered behavior is left to the browser spec, which no longer carries frame sampling and statistics in its body — those moved to e2e/support/helpers/stream-smoothness.ts. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Measure total painted text, not the tail message The smoothness sampler read the length of the last assistant-message element. A real turn emits many assistant messages, so that element keeps changing identity and its length is not monotonic — handovers read as resets, and a stream that was plainly moving on screen reported almost no growth at all. Sampling the total across every assistant message fixes it. This invalidated the numbers previously recorded for the real-agent run, so the doc table is replaced with a fresh A/B taken with the corrected sampler against a Claude Haiku agent: frames that advanced the text 6% -> 87%, chars-per-frame CV 4.11 -> 1.86, gap p50 317ms -> 17ms, p95 383ms -> 17ms. The paced column also reported zero Unicode defects across a stream containing emoji, which exercises the reveal boundary clamp end to end. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf(agent-stream): harden paced text reveal Use standards-compliant grapheme segmentation when available and preserve full arrivals on older runtimes. Cap reveal commits at 60Hz and measure the real browser rendering path so high-refresh displays stay smooth without rendering at hardware frame rate. * Hold back trailing fragments split by arrival boundaries The reveal boundary is not the only place a grapheme gets cut. The daemon's coalescing window ends a delta wherever the window closes, so a caught-up reveal can be handed half a cluster and paint it. Measured on a mixed-script Haiku stream: five frames in ~350 ending in a single regional indicator, i.e. half a flag on screen for a frame. While the turn is streaming, a trailing fragment that cannot stand alone — a dangling high surrogate, a trailing joiner, an odd regional indicator — now waits for the rest of its cluster. Once the turn ends everything received is painted, because nothing more is coming. Complements the grapheme-boundary clamp, which handles the reveal cut; this handles the arrival cut. The same stream now measures one such frame in ~400 rather than five. The remainder is a flush boundary that coincides with the end of an assistant message, putting the two halves in different messages, which the client cannot rejoin — that one belongs in the coalescer. feat(app): make the side panel user-directed (#3605)
* feat(app): let the file panel close its tree rail The file panel's tree rail was permanent on desktop — the changes panel had a folder-tree toggle in its toolbar, the file toolbar had nothing, so the rail was there whether you wanted it or not. The changes panel's private DesktopTreeToggle becomes a shared TreeRailToggle so both toolbars render the same affordance; that also drops the treeToggleStyle prop threaded through ChangesToolbarProps, which recomputed exactly what the component already built internally. The i18n keys move out of workspace.git.diff into workspace.tree, since a shared component reaching into the git namespace would rot. The two rails keep independent flags — the file rail in panel-store, the changes rail in useChangesPreferences — so closing one leaves the other alone. FileTreeToggle wires itself to the store rather than taking a callback: the bar renders several components below FilePanel, where the rail actually lives. Both rails also get narrower (320 -> 260 default, 200 -> 180 minimum). The persist version bump resets treeRailWidth on purpose: nearly every existing install carries the old 320 default, so without the reset the narrower rail would only ever reach new users. Anyone who dragged their rail to a deliberate custom width loses it once. Note that MIN_CONTENT_WIDTH still clamps the rail to `containerWidth - 240`, so in a narrow pane the new default never applies — that floor, not the default, is what sets the width there. * feat(app): make the side panel an empty workspace surface The fixed, hideable side panel keeps supporting context beside an agent without seeding content. Pane-local choices stay local, while implicit supporting opens follow a persisted routing preference. * test(app): exercise side panel policy through its capability boundary The browser rail journey already covers the real tree-toggle behavior. Side-panel policy tests now pass their platform capability through the public boundary instead of replacing a production module. * test(app): expect an empty side panel after upgrade * test(app): expect an empty first split pane * test(app): account for the empty side panel in split retention * feat(app): make workspace panel tabs independent Give explicit New actions fresh tab instances, keep panel state opaque to tab management, preserve File navigation context, and stabilize uncached File transitions. * fix(app): preserve file conflicts during preview refresh Keep the current preview mounted for same-target reads and conversions so the editor retains its conflict observation state. Clear retained previews only when the file target changes. |
