* feat(plugins): unify source installation and simplify plugin settings
* feat(plugins): install npm sources and review CLI updates
Treat install selectors as one-time choices. Keep source identity separate from the installed revision, and resolve ordinary updates from the current upstream default. npm only acquires directories; plugin loading remains independent of npm.
* fix(plugins): preserve CLI diagnostics and exercise reviewed updates
Move new source capability coverage to real browser journeys. Update the requirements regression to exercise preview and apply, and preserve the existing duplicate-selector diagnostic across positional option scopes.
* test(plugins): remove unused pending helper
* test(plugins): pack registry fixtures with the Windows command runner
* test(plugins): assert failed client contribution setup
* docs(plugins): consolidate guides and document npm publishing
* docs(plugins): introduce publishing choices before npm instructions
* test(plugins): own browser journey cleanup in a fixture
* feat(plugins): prepare scaffolded packages for publishing
* fix(daemon): keep lifecycle operations on the selected instance
Restart reconstructed launch inputs and address fallback could redirect a home-selected shutdown to another daemon. Let supervisors publish bound endpoints, retain their worker restart contract, and share captured local lifecycle ownership between CLI and Desktop.
* test(daemon): verify bounded desktop readiness and cancellable artifacts
* test(cli): verify reload target hints and durable offline pairing
* test(daemon): align lifecycle fixtures with ownership and targeting
* fix(daemon): preserve reachability when status details time out
Provider discovery can outlast a status request after authentication succeeds. Keep local connection facts separate from unavailable details, while explicit remote queries retain their error outcome.
Migrate CLI and packaged Desktop fixtures to persistent managed configuration and explicit targets. Isolate generic Git observation from forge discovery and reuse disposable CLI homes on Windows.
* test(daemon): observe restart through the worker status RPC
The bounded CLI status observation may omit worker details while an authenticated connection remains healthy. Exercise the app-style restart through its full RPC and retain the replacement observation, with a real slow provider probe covering the distinction.
* feat(cli): accept host as a global option
Keep the command-local position for compatibility while letting users place one daemon target before the command and reuse it while changing verbs. Local daemon lifecycle commands continue to operate locally.
* fix(cli): preserve project host resolution boundary
Project creation already handled PASEO_HOST directly. Avoid routing that established behavior through a newly exported client helper so its isolated command tests keep their existing dependency boundary.
* test(cli): allow scaffold typecheck under CI load
* test(cli): provide remote cwd in schedule e2e
* docs(cli): teach only global host syntax
Add transport-only SSH connectivity for the CLI and Electron desktop through the user's OpenSSH configuration. Remote installation and daemon lifecycle remain explicit, separate operations.
Preserve actionable SSH failure details when the proxy socket closes before the SSH child exits.

* feat: direct TCP URI with SSL toggle and optional password auth
Replaces the heuristic-driven direct-connection model with a user-controlled
one. The Add Host dialog now exposes structured Host, Port, "Use SSL", and
masked Password fields that compose the canonical
`tcp://host:port?ssl=true&password=xxx` URI used as the storage form.
The daemon gains optional shared-secret auth: `Authorization: Bearer <pw>` on
HTTP and `Sec-WebSocket-Protocol: paseo.bearer.<pw>` on the WS upgrade
(browser WebSocket can't set custom headers). Configured via config.json
`auth.password` or `PASEO_PASSWORD` env. Off by default — old clients keep
working unchanged.
The `port === 443` heuristic for ws/wss is gone; the explicit `useTls` flag
drives scheme selection at every call site.
* fix: stabilize direct tcp auth ci checks
* fix: restore fetch stub in bootstrap smoke test
* fix(app): collapse Advanced section in add-host modal
* feat(server): hash daemon password in config
* fix: update lockfile signatures and Nix hash
* Improve direct TCP auth failures
* Fix workspace cwd updates after rebase
